I know this sounds like I'm shilling for Scott but mostly I'm just trying to get the word out as Scott has been great to work with and has been willing to support those of us who shoot Savages.
There are not many options for stocks for the Savage Target / LRPV single shot actions. I ordered a Stockade benchrest stock and waited my 8 weeks but then I saw the stock Scott McRee was doing for the 700s and thought that was cool. I decided to call Scott and ask about the Savage.
Scott didn't have a Savage to use as a pattern so I sent him my rifle and as the new Stockade benchrest stock had just arrived, I sent that too.
Scott called me on Sunday, he was finishing my stock and had a few questions. He told me my stock would ship out on Tuesday [today]. He said he would put a couple of photo's up on his website.. I just looked and there is my gun. I'm doing the Snoopy dance!
As requested the stock is in the white as I want to finish it in Duracoat myself. Although you can't completly see it, the back end has Scott's new 4 way system with adjustable cheek rest, LOP, butt plate height and cant.
Now that he has the measurements setup in his CNC Scott is another option for those with Savage single shot Target Action/LRPV actions needing stocks.
I still don't know quite how much I owe
but it is one neat stock system. I may even get a second front end for pure benchrest shooting, the one pictued is the 'hunter' front end.
He also has 20MOA scope rails available to fit the Savage for $35, turns out the rail he makes for the Lawton action is the same pattern as the Savage.
The gun in the pic has a Mike Rock barrel chambered in 6BR and is shouldered on the action but the stock should fit a Savage with a barrel nut as well.
When I get it in I will take pictures. Now I just have to decide what color I want and if I'm going to paint the action and barrel too. Then mount up the Nightforce scope and start load development...
