does a mcmillan f-class or any other benchrest stock for that matter have to be beaded to shoot properly? Here is my deal. I have a rem 700 in 243 that shoots incredibly good. I am talking in the 2's and 3's. I am wanting to buy a mcmillan f=class stock from brunos. the stock is 100% inletted. The rem 700 barreled action i have is a stock varmint barreled action and i would like to put this rifle in the Mcmillan. I plan to shoot the barrel out by the end of summer, and then have it rebarreled with a heavier barrel and recoil lug. So I dont know if beading it know is the best idea? I am still really new to custom equipment so i need a little help and info on the proper steps to take. anyone??? Thanks lee

I don't think you'll find too many top shooting guns that aren't bedded, either glass or pillar). It makes for a very solid and repeatable mating surface for the action especially if you are taking the barreled action in and out of the stock. It is also the best way to ensure that you are not introducing stress to the action when you tighten the stock screws.
You don't 'have' to bed it, but if you are going to invest in an F-class stock I wouldn't want to cut any corners. As far as rebarrelling and the thicker recoil lug...you will have to re-bed it when you install the recoil lug. Might be worth holding off until you get everything as it will be for good. In the meantime you can always install the barreled action in the new stock and see how it shoots. You might be surprised. The barrel won't matter in the bedding equation, but the recoil lug will.

Hope this helps
