McMillan benchrest edge stock?

If you're doing a br length cartridge, I agree with doing a Model BR action. I've got two and love mine. I'm really trying to refrain from buying a drop port version but I'm feeling like the temptation is wearing me down.

Already have the barrelled action , just need to decide on the stock. My choice are much more limited on this side of the border .

Why that model over the edge?

Any ideas what Kelblys inletting costs are? Their site dont give much info and loads extremely weird for me.
Im not one to talk bad about a product but just knowing the ones ive had plus the lack of seeing them at a match on top of the looks id choose the others. The mcmillan br stock is a solid performer and looks good- the kelblys is on the next level. The kelblys br and even better the klp track like a railgun

Which model Kelblys do you like.

I'd advise that you call and talk with them. They are wonderful people and very customer focused. They are among the best in customer focus on what you want vs what you really need. And they may know where there is one already for sale. JME. WD

My Kelbly KLP tracked better than any stock I've ever had or shot when Group shooting. The EDGE stocks were a close second. When Score shooting, the KLP had the same issues as the EDGE did.

Did you find one you liked better for score shooting? no group shooting here.

What do you get for the base price on a Kelbly? do they come with molded in colors or are they just bare fiberglass that need body worked and painted?

My suggestion is a Kelbly TMBR model. The fore end is longer and allows for more stability in the rest and bags. The fore end sides and butt are profiled in a way that makes it not as sensitive as you move your way around a Score target but it also is killer good for Group shooting. For a dedicated HV 13.5 lb. gun, that's the one I'd order if building another one. Kelbly's web site is a flippin' mess anymore...best to just call them. If you're going to go with a pillar bed rather than a glue in, they will put .250 guide holes in for the action screws and let you make and install the pillars. When they do the pillars, they're molded in as the stock is made....I've seen one come loose and that caused no end of issues for the owner before I found it.

Another good one is the Bruno/McMillan pattern, available exclusively from Bruno's Shooting Supply. The fore end is shorter but the sides are great for either Group or Score shooting.

Just my experience, for what it's worth. :) -Al

My 30br score rig has a tmbr on it. Very good stock

Ill see if I can get ahold of Kelblys and see if they have an inlet pattern for the BRM . Also have to see if they even can ship to Canada. I know McMillans can ship direct but I dont know if its because they have a license for it or what. Also Do the Kelblys come with molded in colors or do they need body worked and painted?

You might check with Tom Merideth. He had a tmbr in stock for a Borden when I recently needed one.

Fact of the matter is coming from a non br stock to a flat bottem be stock is 95 percent of what you will gain. Style and design is 5 percent. I have all glue in and in my mind they are superior. No torque involved. To me every mechanical item added to the equation is a potential problem. Do what will satisfy you.Yes , most of the guns that beat me are glued and screwed, not my choice so don't anyone get your blood pressure up. You will love a br stock. By the way, pretty doesn't make a winner, but a good bedding job will help.
