Is there a structural reason why an integral thumbwheel or integral clamp bar adjustable cheekpiece cannot be incorporated into a A4or an McHale stock ? Is it possible as an after purchase modification to add this type of cheekpiece ?

No reason at all it cannot be done
Found out that it can be done and McMillan do it.
There is a gentleman that does adjustable checkpiece installs on lots of stocks. His name is Joe Ducos (AKA StockDoc on forums). He is highly recommended. I would reach out to him, as he has a lot of experience and has been doing this type of modification for quite a few years. I believe his email is [jeducos@yahoo.com] but I'm not 100% certain. If not you can likely look up his work and track down his contact info.
