Max load for 6mm br

I am shooting a custom Nesika bay with a krieger barrel and a .271 necked chamber. I use lapua brass, CCI br4 primers, and would like to know what is the max safe load with Varget, Benchmark and vv 135 I will be shooting 105 gr bullets.

That's gonna depend a lot on your conditions. 30 grains of Varget is the default "if it won't shoot it's the rifle not the load" load. N135 may be a tad fast for 100+ grain bullets as the chart here:

http://www.6mmbr.com/6mmbr.html

- indicates it's OK with 80's but not included for anything heavier.

Benchmark may be a tad too fast also, at least as far as this chart:

http://gsgroup.co.za/burnrates.html

- would indicate; between H322 & H335, faster than H4895 & N135 both. It's popular with the lighter bullets & there are many loads for it and N135 on a chart farther down the page I gave you the link to here on 6mmbr.com.

You might want to look at IMR 8208XBR. Recently introduced & recommended for this cartridge & bullets of 100 grains+ with loads starting at 24.0 grains. I've had great results with it in 6XC behind Berger's 105VLD at from 600 to 1000 yards. It's high density stuff so don't let yourself make the mistake of putting as much as you think the case can hold when you start testing.

If you don't turn necks keep an eye on loaded neck diameter. I shot a 271 nk and if you keep some neck clearance it will keep your speed down a bit. I did not turn and my loads were a little less than most.

With a custom rifle and the 6BR, you need to learn how to read pressure signs and know when to stop. There is no definite "Max" in any given rifle of this type, as all handle pressure very differently.

If you don't know how to read primers for signs of over-pressure, then I suggest you take some time to learn and research it a bit as it's a very valuable skill.

this is hard to determine as you will have to test it in your rile. different chamber specs in different rifles (free bore) will cause different chamber pressures, also where you seat the bullet relative to the lands will have an impact on pressure. currently, as mentioned, i am shooting 30.0 varget, wolf primers, and 107 sierras. the last time i shot, i tested different seating depths. just off the lands, .010 itl, .015 itl, and .020 itl. they all produced great accuracy, but the .020 itl had the best consistency with an sd of 3 and es of 8 with great accuracy. krieger barrel, 8" twist, 5R, 27.25", .115fb, .271nk. hope this helps
