mausingfield action?

Replacable bolt head and firing mechanism are 2 that he coulda left simple. Savage nut and torroidal bolt lugs too. Its ok tho theres gotta be options in the market even tho i can get a defiance, stiller, atlas, pierce, or borden over $600 cheaper, in stock and theyre proven designs.
Replaceable head is great for a switch barrel setup? Also good if you pierce a primer and have bolt damage.

The torroidal lugs are an interesting design that has a lot of merit to it, I don't see the problem?

Savage nut? It has a Savage thread pitch; it can be barreled with or without a nut. Having cheap prefit barrels is a plus to most people.

I'm not interested in owning one (I have a Pierce on order), but there are a lot of great features.....except the price. Truth be told, I would rather have one of the latest Bighorn actions regardless of price.

I'd be willing to venture that in five years (maybe even sooner), people will still be wanting and talking about the Defiance, Stiller, Borden, BAT, et al actions, while at the same time saying "Mausing-who?".

I just don't see this thing as having much long-lasting staying power in the competitive market.

The price of the Defiant, the new Bighorn along with some of the other tactical match rifle actions is starting to creep up to the Mausingfield price. I was going to buy a Defiant, then after shooting my buddies Mausingfield it had me sold on it. Finally some of the manufacturers are stepping out of the box more than just a high performance 700 variant a action. I'm looking forward to mine getting here. Being a lefty I'm down the list though...

So what is the real advantage to the mouserfeld action? It lists for $1600 on their website. The Stiller Tac 30 lists for $975., the Defiance Tacticool lists for $1300., and the Shilen lists for $975. The Shilen will accept the Savage type barrel, Savage type swivel bolt head, Remington footprint, and Remington style trigger.
I'm sorry, selling ugly will not prompt people to buy them. If I were a Shark on the Shark Tank, I would send them packing.

I have two Pierces and they are nice actions for a decent price also. AFA the M'fields, being an American manufacturer, I hope they make it.

There a smooth running action. I like the fixed ejector, I can pull it back nice and slow on the bench and drop brass right back in the box or rack it fast and fling them out of the way. The toroidial lug has a more even bearing surface. I do like the controlled feed for most of the things I do with my rifles. The pinned scope bases are nice also. One of my first rifles was a Mauser98

I like them. There not for everybody. There not just the typical modded 700. I would have bought the Defiance Deviant or the new Bighorn action if I didn't get the Mausingfield. Sure is a huge step up from my Salvage....actually my Savage has been a pretty good rifle.

Its an interesting design and I like that he tried something different. However I do not like the torroidal lugs, I want my bolt face to square up once pressure from the case is applied. The cost of his bolt heads rival that of a whole new bolt from other manufacturers. Also I cant imagine spending 1600 on an action and cheaping out with a prefit barrel. I wont knock it, because I appreciate the ideas and engineering behind it. But it doesnt do it for me.

My idea of innovation is what Blazer came up with. They essentially started with a clean sheet of paper. It appears Mouserfeld rehashed design features in an attempt to combine them into one action...too many design compromises = improved features perhaps, yet really not any better.

Anyone do any tests with or have any experience with the mausingfield action? I realize accurate shooter is more of a bat style action bench rest crowd but it seems like a logical solid platform for prs style shooting. Though expensive. I did see the write up precision rifleman did.

I'd check with Chad Dixon of Long Rifles Inc since he is now a distributor for the action and has built many rifles with it. The fact that he has chosen to distribute and heavily market this action says a heck of a lot to me: his work is consistently impeccable. Also, check out the mfr videos, tons of great information about some of the cool innovations with this product: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLdfu5dyNsewq8_wO1jpNN3ZzPLE4d9Nu6
From what I can see, Ted is a brilliant engineer.

As with many things, the "not-invented-here" syndrome rears it's ugly head to smack down anyone who dares to think outside the box of approved solutions. Reminds me a bit of when March scopes came out. The tactical crowd could not conceive of a "benchrest" scope company making a good tactical scope. Fast-forward a few years later and listen to rave reviews of March tactical scopes on Snipershide....lol.

It would appear that the marketplace is validating the Mausingfield with a ton of back-orders. My guess is Ted loves the commentary about his long hair....no such thing as bad publicity. ;)

Also, single round feeding is no problem:

This one I built several years ago. It is in 6.5X47L.
I'm finishing a Ti action, cheaper by a bunch than the mouserfeld, rifle now. It is out for a PVD coating. Pics will be forth coming. Hopefully it will be back next week. It is in 280AI and I had Brown Precision make a Kevlar stock for it.

Well,I watched the above Vids on the Mauserfields. Quoting Ted " good engineers do more with less" and "the drive here (at mausingfield) is towards more simplicity. After seeing the number of bolt parts and the extra-ordinary machine work on replacable Picatinny rails that still rely on screw threads.....I have come to the conclusion that Mike Walker was one hell of an engineer.....brilliant-in fact.

For what this action was designed for I think it's a well thought out piece. It cracks me up that people are knocking the design for using the best features of many different actions, yet nobody is willing to admit their action is a Remington base design with a side bolt release (not ever found on a Remy), an M16 or Sako extractor, possibly a built in recoil lug (M70), etc........

Like I said, I'm not about to buy one, but I think it's a well thought out action.

Actually, I freely admit that the Kelbly Panda actions I use for short-range BR are refined Remington 700 clones. Kelbly is handsdown the winningest action in the history of the Super Shoot. I like the the similarity between the two because all my hunting rifles are Rem. 700's.
IMHO, some things can be overthunk.
