match bullets for hunting?

Some of the A-max bullets mentioned in this thread seem to have disappeared from the market during the years since this thread started, but two Scenars have apparently gathered a following among long range hunters, the 139 in .264 and the 155 in .308. I guess the A-max got a reputation for not always exiting, but the Scenars are harder or something.

Most of my experience is with the 30 cal 210 hunting vld from Berger. I shot a doe at 553yrds, slight quartering away. Entered The ribs, exited out the opposite shoulder. Exit wound in the "armpit" area of the ribs was about the size of a baseball. Exit hole in the hide was about 2". The doe dropped straight down. My daughter shot a buck 2 yrs ago at 602 yrds. Slight quartering towards us. Entered through the base of the neck, exit was out the back of oposite ribs cage. Deer jumped up in the air and face planted the ground. Same type wound channel. I shot a mule in Arizona at 1012yrds. Square in the shoulder. Took about 5-6 steps and fell over. Bullet came out, but exit in ribs was about 1". Chest cavity was obliterated. There's more that I shot, but in my experience, the Berger hunting vlds work. Oh, I did shoot a Ram at 583yrds with a 300gr elite hunter Berger out of a 338 edge. Broadside rib shot. In/out was small hole. Not much there to open up such a big/heavy bullet. Ran only about 30-40 yrds
