March Scopes

Ive been thinking about getting one for some time just to change up a bit..... I have several NF 5.5x22's on my F Class rifles and they work just fine just wanting some additional magnification on my next one. I've heard alot of good things about the Marchs'.... Just curious what variable powers the F Class guys are using that are running them?
Well aware that I may NEVER use some of the highest magnification scopes offer!!

We sell a number of scopes for the F Class shooters. The most common one sold today is the 8x-80x, the 10x-60x has done very well. Right now some of the UK shooters are using 5x-40x First Focal Plane scopes and they really like that you do not have to think about reticle values as they remain same on all powers. Any questions please call as I do not visit this site very often(got to work).

I have the 10x-60x52 and love it. If your at Bville this weekend ask for David K, you can take a look.

I wont be there Fri for practice but will be there Sat & Sun.... Thanks David

I transitioned from an NXS 8-32 to a March 10-60 and really like it. I keep it locked on 60 power most of the time and when extreme mirage kicks in I dial down to 40-50 power. My NXS seemed to suffer more during extreme mirage situations.

+1 to what lawrence97 just said. My 1K sling rifle wears a March 10-60x and life couldn't be better. The quality of the glass is most likely without peer. No, I haven't looked through EVERY scope out there, but it is more clear to the edges than everything I have looked through. BTW, Kelbly's are great people to deal with also.
I hope this helped,
Lloyd

I have two 10-60x Marches which I think are the best balanced for F class, not too heavy, not too much magnification, though I do spend most of the time on 60x, only cutting back if mirage is really bad.

Beats all the others - hands down. My 10-60 stays on 60 most of the time.
You can trust this brand.

I also have two March 10-60x52 BR scopes on my two open guns and love them. I've owned NF and several others but the March is the clearest, most crisp scope I have ever used and I wouldn't go to anything else currently on the market.

In my opinion the 5-50 is the most versatile. I use mine for F class on 40 power but if you wanted to use it for low light hunting you can on 5x, just make sure you get the illuminated model as the cross hairs will be difficult to see at dawn/dusk, obviously not needed for F class.

I also use a 8-80 but I never feel the need to have it above 40 power.

I have several NF 12-42 BR scopes, and they are very good. My March 10-60 is a tad better, but not at nearly twice the cost of a NF. And the warranty is only 5 years to original owner. Just sent a NF back 2 weeks ago for the second time. It is ll years old and not holding POI.

There is no comparison to the quality of the March scopes. What you are paying for is holding POI and the quality of the glass. I have a 10x60 and a 8x80, both with the MTR reticle. These are the best scopes(reticle)for Fclass, period.

Thanks for the replies...... Last weekend I got to get behind one (March) and a new NF Competition model..... Both were extremely nice indeed.... Decisions decisions!!!

Why would you worry about "reticle values" in F class? I guess I don't have a lot of F class trigger time, so there might be a reason.

As far as the OP....Did you try the 8-32 or 12-42 NXS or BR models? Much better for target work. The 5.5-22 is a hunting scope in my eyes...and I have 5 NF's from the 22x up to the 42x.

As far as March scopes....the only time i ever looked through one was at the 2008 IBS 1K nationals at Thunder Valley. I think it was Kelblys that had a "booth" set up. The only scope I looked through was the 10-60, and it was increadable. Thier 5.5-55 and 8-80 were not out at the time. But then again, all I had at the time to compare with were a 8-32 NXS and a 8.5-25 Leupold.

Expensive, yes, but if you want the best....

I don't see a benefit for 1st focal plane in f class either. I guess it might be beneficial for tactical shooters who shoot at unknown distances at targets without rings of known diameter.

Having only used 1st focal plane scopes, my brain was breaking to pieces when I got my first 2nd focal plane scope.
- reticle shows a 4 line correction; that is 16 clicks, no wait it's 12 clicks - or maybe 8?
With a 1st focal plane scope, the reticle to clicks ratio is always the same - now you only need remember if its up or down ;-)

The only reason I got a 2nd plane scope was to get more magnification, 40x -> 80x, and I never turn it down past 40 for LR.

I am one of those "UK Shooters" that Jim mentions using the new 5-40 FFP moa scope.
The advantage is with FFP you can absolutely guarantee no point of aim shift whilst changing zoom, so I can effectively use this' as a spotting scope to check target trend on low zoom and shoot on high.
The ret in the non illuminated 5-40 has a 1/8th dot which still allows me to place my dot in the 5" V bull and still see plenty of white centre (this is on 40x) (have tried it on black centre and just as effective) I personally do use the hash marks for correction on wind and elevation, it's a little more precise than the ring estimation and it usually allows me a 5 or a V on a 2nd sighter, the crosshair is a little larger than I am used too but it works very well, I do have 2nd FP March and I have used the zoom in competition without issue however the nature of 2nd FP cannot 100% guarantee that POA shift will be eliminated when changing zoom power in the middle of a shot string.
Recently we shot in extreme conditions, (rain wind etc) my spotting scope was useless however I was able to use my riflescope without any issues.
