March LR reticle question

So I’m hoping to hear from some short range shooters. I have a March 48X High Master on my LV rifle. It has the 1/16” dot. The scope has a 2.7’(32.4”) FOV at 100 yards so I should have 16.2” below the horizontal cross hair at 100 yards.

The LR 1/16” dot reticle has the cross hair placed in the top third of the FOV so it should have 21.6” below the horizontal cross hair. That’s an additional 5.4” of FOV with the LR reticle. I understand the idea behind this reticle is to hopefully be able to see more wind flags in the FOV.

I’m curious, does that 5.4” actually make much of a difference? It seems minuscule but I suppose it could help, if flags were set perfectly. If you have shot the LR reticle, please chime in.

Thanks,
Dave.

Love mine and yes, it helps getting flags in the scope. Keep in mind that seeing flags at 100 is not as tough as seeing the far flags at 200 or 300. Your fov will be double or triple at those distance as it is at 100 and it simply matters more, just because it gets harder to see the far flags as distance increases. At 100, I still like it but it's way more benefit at 200-300. I don't have much trouble seeing my far flag(s) at say 75-80 yards for a 100 yard match but seeing the subtle angle changes at longer distance is where I really like the bottom fov for seeing the flags.

I don't even notice it vs a standard reticle, switching from gun to gun...but that's me. I don't doubt Eric a bit but it's seemless to me.
