March Highmaster

Has anybody had their hands on a 40-60x52HM or the 10-60x56HM to compare it to the NF Competition??

I had a play with a prototype version of the 10-60x56HM. Put it side by side against my Vortex GE and an NF Comp on a friends rifle. Conditions were 36 degrees Celsius, sunny, heavy mirage, light winds. Viewing distance was F-class targets at 500 metres. Optical quality wasn't even close. As good as the NF and Vortex are, the March is in another category optically. Had to back the Vortex and NF off to about 30x for a half reasonable sight picture given the conditions. The March was clearer than both set to 40x in comparison. Quite a deal more expensive, but if you have the money for one, buy it and don't look back, you won't find clearer glass.

I have a new Golden Eagle and to be honest I think the optical quality is pretty bad.

From what Shiraz has told me nothing out there that even comes close. My 48X is scheduled to be coming in from Japan next Saturday the 15th. Hopefully it will be worth the wait.

Some months back, it was mentioned that March was going to come out with a scope that featured fluorite glass. I expressed some surprise at that seeing as fluorite lenses are not known for strength and that putting that in a riflescope could be a problem. It seems the High Master series uses "Super-ED" glass, not fluorite.

This should be an interesting development.

Each to their own mate but I prefer it over the NF Comp. If I had the coin I'd get the March if you really want the best optical quality and the typical precision that March are known for.

Our big shipment is in Customs and will be here next week.

We will be filling back orders as most are sold. I have a prototype on one of my rifles and it is incredible.The regular 10-60 is really good, but these are delicious to look through. The new 10-60 HM is heavier as the tube is 34mm and is 56 mm instead of 52mm on the normal version.

We ship by priority of orders placed, and we will have another shipment coming in about two or three weeks. Several reticle choices and I ordered more of the 3/32" dot than others, so we might have a couple left over from the first shipment. If the one you want is out of stock, then maybe the next shipment. One thing is for sure, as soon as there are several of these on rifles word will get out of their quality and there will be more interest in them.

The factory took their time making these and really came out with glass that is optically superior to all others.

"Delicious!" Did you just really write "delicious to look through?"

In decades of photography and rifle shooting, that comparison has never entered my mind.

Now, I won't be able to get it OUT of my mind. Thanks a lot.

Also, the fact that March uses the moniker "ED" and "Super-ED" leads me to believe they are using Nikkor glass in their riflescopes. Not a bad choice.

If you have one left over, just send it to me to test; I'll compare it to my March-X 5-50X56. I'll send back the one I love less.

@Shiraz

What's driving the cost difference between the MAR1078 $2762.50 vs the MAR1080 $3310.75..? Is it only the reticle difference driving the price or another feature/features?
