March 8-80 or Sightron 10-50x60 ?

Which is a better value for the money.....
March 8-80 or SIghtron lll 10-50x60 ?
I am Looking only at the thin cross hairs with dot. March scope is exactly 3 times the money for new or used over the sightron. Been pricing good used Sightron for $800.00 and March 8-80 for $2400.00 used. New prices March is still 3x more then Sightron scope. Scope is going on the new Shaw AR10 6.5 creedmoor 24 inch barrel. My Gun is back ordered to July 1. Put $500.00 down on it at factory. Good reviews for 1000.00 gun. Plan to use it long range target and prairie dog hunting. I just don’t know if the March 8-80 is worth 3x the Sightron even though March has 30x more power. I always wanted a big March before I die. Want and need 2 different stories. Ha ha ha. Marty

The March is not 3X better than the Sightron, but it is noticeably better. In heavy mirage the Sightron will have to have it's magnification turned down for a clear sight picture, sometimes as low as 35X. The March will give a clear picture at a higher magnification. It's your money.

Either sounds like, as they say in Cattle Country; "A ten-dollar horse under a forty-dollar saddle...". I hope when you get that rifle up and running, you will post here what sort of groups you are getting out at the 1000 yard mark. I have a pretty accurate AR-10 in 308 a good AR gunsmith put together for me here. I have a Vortex VHS-4310, a 6-24-50 with the VMR-1 milrad reticle. I am not sure more magnification would help with a gas gun. Accuracy starts to lag much past the half mile mark. I am shooting the Berger Palma bullet loaded to stay supersonic to just past 1200 yards, load courtesy of ERode.

Yes will post feed back on the Shaw AR10 6.5 creedmoor. Gun test magazine this month did a test against 2 other high dollar AR10’s. The Shaw gun at $995.00 hung right with them. They gave it a. A- rating and Best Buy of the 3 guns they tested. I have a Ruger M-77 6.5 with 26 inch barrel. I hope the AR10 will shoot as good. If so the Ruger bolt is going down the road. I am going to put in a trigger on the Shaw AR10 and that will be only thing not stock on gun.
So right now looking for the scope. I am going to try to look through a March 8-80 and see what it is like. Myself and our group of investors are talking with a japan scope manufacture about a 100x power scope. I am involved with small group of guys that formed a limited partnership a few years ago. We finally got this japan optic co to listen to us at least. They ask for our financial stuff , tax numbers , etc and said they will work us up a quote in 90 days. They say they have the technology to build a100x power scope for us but I get the feeling they are holding back and only Want to give the opportunity to a big name scope company. They ask what kind of money we are willing to spend ? I said depends on quality you have on your scope. I said if you make a scope that looks like a Leapers brand scope then know we will not be happy. I would like see a scope the size of a sworkoskiy spotting scope. Wouldn’t that be something. 100x power scope with a 85mm bell on the end. Ha ha ha. Still thinking about that 8-80 March scope. Will keep you posted. Marty

Nothing out there quite like the 8-80 March. I have a few March scopes and for my purpose ( paper punching from 100 to 1000 ) i am more than satisfied. I had a Sightron 8-32x56 LRMOA reticle on a 300RUM and the scope never let me down on a heavy recoiling gun. If it is not a money thing i would get the March.....

Regards
Rick

The money that you spend above the cost of the Sightron
is just feel good money. Sightron gets the job done. LDS
I'll agree with Larry even though I have a half dozen March scopes. To me the 8-80 is an oddball scope. The 10-60 March makes more sense and IMO a better scope than the 8-80.
