Hi Everyone. I wondered if anybody could provide me with their opinion on Manson Reamers --are they good or other. Thanks Hoz

I've been buying and using reamers made by them since the company was known as Loon Lake Precision. Manson makes good tools. Unlike the company in OR, I don't believe I've ever had to return one to Manson. I HAVE sent a few that were made in OR to Manson to be 'fixed' with a proper re-sharpening. Manson doesn't peddle 'junk'.

I like their reamers and their service has been great. Every time I have asked for a print, I got it the same day. Last fall I sent them some solid pilot reamers to be converted to bushing style reamers and I got them back in 7 days, including shipping from PA to MI both ways, so they must have done the work in one or two days. The ones I have all use a clip to retain the bushing instead of a screw, but I don't mind the clips at all.

Thanks for more good info about Manson. I'm looking forward to using their products.

I just took a look at his website and it seems there reamers are a little cheaper then PT&G. Is this right or am I looking wrong? I have used PT&G reamers in the past but I might have to give these a try.

I dont know PTG pricing.-- Manson was 130 today for a removable pilot with one bushing. --Thats for their standard calibers, which they told me are generally in stock. Hoz

Don't just give them a try because they are lower in price. They are a much better reamer than I've ever bought from PT&G! The only reamers than ever gave me trouble came from PT&G (wouldn't cut/acted like they were dull, only cut on 1 or two flutes). I've never had a problem with 40-45 reamers I've bought from Dave Manson.

Good to hear more positive info about Dave Manson Co.

I've been buying more and more from Manson lately because I think they cut a little better than JGS. For custom work JGS is usually quite a bit faster (not always but most of the time they are) but for something on the shelf Manson is hard to beat. I have a few PTG reamers that will barely cut even though they've cut very few chambers. One was replaced because it wouldn't cut. The new one cut 1 or 2 chambers and then back to acting dull again.

Thanks for the info Idaho

My Smith used a Manson reamer on my order. Contacted Manson for a drawing request, received my reamer specs, standard reamer specs for comparison (M852 vs 308 win), and headspace gauges for them (and coincidentally 243).

Dave responded within minutes of my request. I must assume my Smith chose wisely. No other experience with others, other than speaking with Dave Kiff about an idea that was summarily a poor one. Thanks Dave for saving me from myself.
