Making a 6mm br

Hi I'm not sure how to use the form. I have a question for any that may know the answer. I have Savage mod 12 ssv that is a .223 now, but I'm trying to make a 6mm BR. I have been trying to change the bolt head from 223 to a 308 bolt head. So far the three heads don't work on the 223 bolt, soom one said back home that they would inter change. How can it be done ? Thank you. Bill

If it is a small dimple that is in the way just file it off, it is not needed on the newer models.
Or you can go this way,https://www.midwayusa.com/product/1778451988
it is a direct replacement, and should take no more than 20 minutes to replace.
Midway also sells complete bolts, just another option. I think Brownells sells them also.

I never had a problem switching bolt heads. I’m not sure what’s not working for the OP, but there are different extractors for the 223 and 6BR sized bolt heads.

Never had any experience with the 6 BR. Does it take a 308 bolt face? For some reason I thought they fell into the 6PPC, 6.5 Grendel, 6ARC bolt face. Maybe I should just build one and answer my own question! LOL
