Magnetospeed and cold weather

Outside thermometer reads 7 deg F at the moment -which gets me wondering if my new Magnetospeed V-3 would perform well at these temps?

In other words, would the same velocity projectiles read the same at temp extremes?

I would expect a given load to yield different velocities, I'm just wondering how cold affects the combination of electrical and magnetic components in the Magnetospeed.

I also wonder if the bayonet is likely to be damaged by muzzle blast at below zero temps.

I shot my V1 at -20oF and colder last two winters without ill effects. Can't say that I left the bayo outside for hours and hours then shot with it, but it was out there for a couple hours. Drew

I suspect the biggest effect would be on your battery in the data unit. An older battery may not generate the voltage you need if it becomes cold soaked.

I believe the physics of the measuring method is basically not effected by temp. A metal mass moving quickly through an inductive field (the bullet passing over a current biased inductor) disturbs the field and reactance of the inductor which can be measured with accuracy and repeatability.
