Made the move south

Sold the place up north and moved to Lewiston, Idaho. Just wondering what the folks here could tell me about the area.
Good gun shops in the area including Spokane, Coeur d' Alene, Missoula?
Where to go to set up some long range targets for the afternoon?
I already have Boomershoot on my radar, any other events?
Thanks for any insights/info.

You only moved halfway if you wanted south. Not gonna be much difference this winter. But welcome to the north! Got some beautiful country up there.

Oh there's a difference. Lewiston was still hitting 80 in October. Anchorage rarely hits 80 in June. I've always said there is no winter south of the 49th parallel, what you folks have down here are just cold snaps.

Spend a winter in January/February in Minnesota and may wish for an Anchorage winter. I was in Anchorage in February a few years back and 40 degrees felt really good. Nice spot where you moved to though. I prefer Florida in January... ;D

A touch of winter? Try Minot, North Dakolder or International Falls. Either will make anything feel warmer.

:)

I spent some time in Fairbanks and it got to -60 one winter that I remember. Then I lived in Wyoming and the coldest I personally "felt" there was -40. Now I live where I can go with a sweatshirt and lined heavy shirt for winter. Ahhhhhhhh. I fly fished the Madison River up in Idaho, wish I could make it there again one more time.

Everything is relative. Where I work in Kuparuk it has already been below zero and currently it's 18 above with a 35 mph wind gusting to 50. Should get below zero again next week where it will likely stay until April. In addition the sun will set Nov 25 and won't rise again until Jan 17.
I maintain my original statement is correct, real winter does not exist south of the Canadian border!
😃😃😃😃😃

Welcome to the lower 48. The best weather is in Hawaii, but there's too much water and not enough land for my tastes. Next best is SoCalifornia, but there's too many fruits and nuts there. I kinda like blowin snow and sitting by a nice, crackling fire. And here, on the east coast, we have plenty of water. I do miss the mountains, though.

"Coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco"........maybe from Mark Twain.

I have a friends that just moved to Lewiston and love it. He is a Fed. working with the Native population, so he is not too popular in Idaho, but they love it there.......

Black Sheep Sporting Goods is a nice full line gun shop. They have every number of Speer bullets on the shelves. Speer Bullets is a short distance away. Also check out Lolo Sporting Goods

Have been to Black Sheep and the new (I guess) North 40. Will have to check out Lolo. Also checked out the pawn shops, lots of Remington 721's, all but one in 30-06. Might have to pick one up just because.
Still trying to decide if I should bring my 338 RUM down or sell it in AK.

The good news is the fisherman's sidearm will no longer be for self use should the bears come for you... The little cubbies here in the 48 fall over when shot.

Will do. Thanks.

I went to school in Pullman, WA and met my wife 39 years ago at WSU.
You are close to the Bitterroot Wilderness , Hell's Canyon and, of course, the local drive west on the Snake River, which is more of a lake because of the series of dams. East, the Lochsa River is a class V beauty with jumping salmon. Lewiston is lower in elevation and much warmer than the surrounding areas. Lewiston itself is kind of a pit, but you are in the gateway to much that the Inland NW has to offer.
