M1A reduced loads for 200/300 yd matches

Like the platform and the longer sight radius,but not the recoil. Any tried and true reduced loads you've had success with?

yep the rifle has a good sight radius but the 308 has the recoil. Ive used 40.5 g of imr 4064 with a 168 for 2,300 yds and ive used 150 sierra mks at the 200 yd line , but the 200 yd target is big and the 150's have a recoil advantage for sure but when you move back to the 300yd line I would use a 168. The better choice is a .223, davek.

For 200yds I like 46gr of 4895 or 4064 with a 125 bullet. Nice, accurate, low recoil. I tried the same load only with WC846 and the recoil seemed vicious by comparison.

For 300, I move up to a 155 or a 168gr bullet.

try 40gr of 4064 with either the 125 nosler BT, or 110Vmax for the 200 yard line. makes my M1 feel like an ar. It just doesn't reload like one. I am gonna run either 168 amaxs or 170 lapua d46s for the M1a Match this year. but i am gonna run 110 vmaxs or berger 110s for the M1 Garand match (SECNAV award rifle in .308). if you keep the pressure enough tot cycle the op rods you are safe. i got the recipes from "youth hunting loads" section of an old reloading manual and the great advice from some senior forum members. i hope this helps.
