Just spent a couple of hours eating donuts out my new fireformed 6mm Remington brass made from Nosler 257 Roberts+P brass. Very satisfying, not very filling though.
i didn’t think you could push them to the outside with a mandrelPush them to the outside with a mandrel and turn them off OR, seat the bullets "above" them, load and shoot. I have never had donut issues.
L.E. Wilson inside neck reamer.how did you get them out?
Not all had donuts only about 80%. They were just big enough to not the bullet pass through the neck.I'm surprised your getting donuts going from 257 Roberts to 6mm Rem.
I haven't had the issue going from 7X57 Mauser to 257 Roberts.
I do have some cases that were given to me that were 30-06 necked to 25-06. Huge donuts in them!
That reminds me!
Need to get a 25 cal ID neck reamer!
Yes if they are large enough to be a problem the way I found doughnuts in my 260 brass which was necked up from 243 is take a fired case slide a projectile in and where the shank boattail Junction hits the neck shoulder Junction of the case it will stop I did the same as previously stated push them to the outside with a mandrel and then took a light skim with a neck Turner at the neck shoulder Junction then fire formed no more problems for the life of the brass. Can you actually see or feel donuts? I think I may have them.
How far up the case necks will they usually go? Wondering how far ahead of the neck junction I need to seat to avoid them
If you are seating your bullets above the donut, you won't even know they are there.I noticed some members suggested doing a light skim and removing the doughnut. Would that weaken the neck where the doughnut is removed? I don't know so gotta ask as it appears I recently got some doughnuts. Also, is it possible to get a small doughnut and not have any issues with seating a bullet?
That's how I found mine.Resize and pin guage..it will come to a hard stop at neck shoulder junction with donut.
