Lyman Gen 6 Powder Dispenser

Anyone have one? If so, how well does it work? I am simply looking at it to throw stick powder a tenth or two under and trickle up on my A&D. I have been using a Harrell's to throw everything under, but consistency throwing R-15 is difficult to get a tenth under. I need it set to throw way under and its PITA to trickle 3-4 tenths or if it decides to throw way under...the same if it throws over, lol. If the Lyman can hold a tenth, that would be great. It can throw while I trickle and keep the cycle moving fast and efficient. I'd like to have a charge master again, but not looking to spend that much, lol.

I use mine to throw IMR7828ssc and H1000. 95% of the charges are +/-.06 grains. I check my charges with a GemPro 250 before the charge gets dumped in the case. I have found that if you keep an eye on the "negative" tare weight (weight minus pan) that both scales are accurate enough for me.
I only shoot groundhogs out to around 1000 yards and club matches out to 375 yards, so I don't need super accurate scales.

How do you find cleaning the powder out of the gen6 when you are done? I saw a video on youtube and was surprised at how many steps it took.. looked like a pia.

Try holding the throw handle on your Harrell's in the "up" position for a full second before dropping it down to release a charge. The throw consistency with stick powders will be MUCH better with your Harrel's and you can often get much closer to your desired throw weight without periodically going over. Once a technique is arrived at throwing powder, slowing down is not easy - but it definitely works. Hope that helps if you haven't tried it . And - hey - love that barrel you sold me :D

I have great luck with my Gen 6 using IMR 8208 XBR. Most drops are dead on the setting. I also accept the -0.1 and reject the +0.1. In 100 drops, I average 2-3 rejects.

Sounds good guys. I actually found a Charge master for a smoking good price from a member here. I had one 5 years ago, so familiar with it. As for the Harrell's, it is what it is, lol. I can get a few I. A row consistent, then will have a few over and under. I'll either trickle a ton up or remove kernels with a spoon and then trickle. I believe the CM will make it nice each time....just need to trickle 2-3 kernels each time.

Glad that barrel is doing well...it was a good shooting barrel.

I corrected my above post to read: 95% of the charges are +/-.06 grains.
Instead of +/-.6 grains.
Sorry for any confusion.

As far as emptying powder at the end of a session - I don't see it as a hassle.
