Lubing up the press

After i get done using my presses i always wipe down the parts and lube them back up. I am not very pickey about what i use when i do. Do you guys do the same thing and just curious if you have something favorite that you like to use. I am kinda funny about things like that and always keep the stuff clean even if i only load 50 rounds.

There's nothing wrong with keeping your loading equipment clean I wipe my stuff down with just regular rem oil. And if it gits really dirty I use rubbing alcohol then the oil.

Thats the same stuff i use about 90% of the time unless i grab something that is their within arms reach that just happens to be on the bench.

Hey Dan, Was wondering the same thing.
I wiped mine down with bore cleaner, then
used a light coating of case lube. I was afraid the moly
grase would dry out & get gummy. Like to see what other
do...

I just use my Hoppes #9 gun oil. Clean it when it needs it, lube it when it needs it. Nothing scientific. I like to keep the ram wet.

Eezox on exposed or blued metal surfaces (like the handle shaft on a Rockchucker). And I use inexpensive white lithium grease on the ram and hinges. I tried the moly greases -- they tend to stain everything they touch.

The white lithium grease also works fine for bolt lugs. It doesn't adhere as well as the expensive red stuff in the syringe, but a big fat tube only costs a couple buck. Works great on handgun rails too.

I use automotive motor oil for lube on the ram and wipe the press down with gun oil to prevent rust. Then I cover the whole thing to prevent dust/crude. etc. from settling on them.

I also just use what ever is in reach. I've used CLP, Miltech, hoppes, motor oil, anything. My presses live inside my home office so its ideal conditions unlike a garage. I just lube mine when it starts to feel sticky or rough. Few drops in the key places and I'm back to work.

I use CLP Break Free. Was told that the teflon in the CLP will imbed in the machined surfaces in the casting and provide better long term anti-friction capability.
