Lube on Scope Turret Caps?

I'm still kind if new to the world of scopes, but I now have three Sightrons and love them all. Two are S3 10-50 and one is an S-Tac. The turret caps on both S3s feel like they are precisely machined, but the caps on the S-Tac feel a little course and loose.

My instincts say to put some lube on the S-Tac caps and all will be well. But, then there are the questions of what to use and will it attract dust.

Please help me out if you have any experience in this area.

Thanks
Richard

I've never done that nor have I ever heard of anyone doing that..... but, like you, I would be concerned about whatever you use attracting dirt, so maybe try cleaning the threads good with a small brush then a silicone spray and see if it helps.

Bob,
Thanks for your reply. My first thoughts were towards Vaseline as a pure, light lube, but your suggestion of silicon was much better. The closest I had to that was Balistol in aerosol, with a tiny straw to keep the spray area small. A tiny dab and spread it around with my finger and all is well.

Thanks again,
Richard

Something else you might try is paraffin (candle) wax, applied sparingly. I wouldn't think it would attract dirt & grime like oils would.
