LT-31?

I was looking through the November issue of Precision Rifleman magazine and noticed that some shooters use LT-31 powder. Was that available at one time or are people combining LT-30 and LT-32?

Nbrsa nationals happening right now, find someone at top of the sheet shooting that combination!!
I've seen it at and near the top of lots of match reports. I've done it myself and I get it if you don't, it's simply not for everyone. But that has nothing to do with it working well or not. If you're not 100% comfortable with it, don't do it. Simple. I will add, not all powders should be blended, ever.

I wish as much credit were given to the shooters as is given to equipment and components. I do realize the importance of good equipment/components, also realize that without a good shooter. none the rest means anything. The shooter is what makes it all come together....the shooter and Mother Nature have the last say.

Remember......Tiger Woods golf clubs don't make you Tiger Woods!

Can't argue with this at all except to say, without the shooter "getting it right" a big percentage of the time, things like optimizing burn rates really wouldn't matter much. But the reality is, mid teen aggs require both. The better the job done by the shooter, the more the details matter...and vice versa.

Since these benchrest guns only require the tip of the finger to apply about one once of force to the trigger, ...... aside from being able to read the wind, what sort of things are important for the shooter to get right?

The shooter is responsible for everything from the loading bench to the target...everything is important, but the shooter is the single most important just like Tiger Woods is what made Tiger Woods who he is. He was on the golf course and gym, when the others were having breakfast/dinner/socializing ,and working on himself. Tiger's golf clubs could only do what he directed them to do. Benchrest equipment/components
have no mind of their own so the shooter is directing everything.......benchrest is a one man show. Meticulous attention to loading, bench setup, rifle setup in rests, rifle tracking, etc. Benchrest is largely about timing....timing the bullet to the end of the barrel and flag interpretation and adapting to conditions knowing the right time to execute the shot. Group benchrest is the most demanding of the shooting sports and it involves a lot of dedication/time at the bench to be successful.
Bart Sauter has a really informative video on YOUTUBE about benchrest setup.....worth the watch.

It really boils down to tune your gun with powder as provide , this avoids accidents happening due to ignorance. If it’s a ppc that’s in question in this case 31 won’t make it shoot better than 32 .
