?? LOW VELOCITY EXPANEDING HUNTING BULLETS ??

For a hunting bullet that expands well under 1,800 fps I like the Barnes Tipped Triple Shock. I shoot a 308 Winchester and use the Barnes 130 grain TTSX. My muzzle vel. with this load is 3,325 fps, but you have to work up your load and watch for presure signs.

It dus not mater what caliber.
or what distance.
I wont brand and model of bullets!

OK, Sorry

In that case just take a normal 12 guage slug. Pull it out of the shell and put it in backwards.
At 15 feet it will be traveling at less than 1800fps but expansion will be horrific :o

Just having fun farmview (although the above is true) ;D Good luck with your quest.

Well this is the dilema of the long shot.Which bullet will WORK properly at low vels. Caliber is a significant part of the process. If you contact most of the (rifle hunting bullet) manufacturers they will tell you that about 1500fps is MINIMUM for SOME expansion. My recomendation is a SP or a Bonded SP. The bonded will hold the jacket/core together with more reliable results they also tend to have a softer nose to expand at lower velocities. Shot placement in long range is CRITICAL because of these issues of lower velocities and bullets not expanding properly (1800fps is PISTOL CLASS VELOCITY) Hornaday,Speer, Seirra used to make (might still) single shot pistol bullets designed to expand at these lower velocities, caliber and weights were limited.
