low light hunting scopes ?

Has anyone got a recommendation as far as a good low light hunting scope for the money ? I prefer at least a 50mm objective, looking at the IOR, Meopta, the new VX-3 something along these lines. Thanks !!

No question Schimdt & Bender is about as good as it gets for low light condintions and about every else except for the price. They are really well known for being able to see the cross hairs with very very little light. They are great under moon light.

I've got two of the Bushnell Elite series variables, one on my 300 WM and the other on a .204 Ruger. I could not believe how bright they are under very low light conditions. Just my .02

The best for nite hunting is a 3.5x15 Night Force.....if there is any ambient light or moonlight you'll be able to see long distance........a friend says simmons Atec are good for nite hunting.

I think you'll be very happy with an IOR! I have the 4-14x50 and it is incredible at low light. A zeiss conquest would be a good choice as well, I have a 3-9x40 that is awesome for clarity and very good at low light!
Good luck with your quest!

They're no longer made but the Springfield Generation III Government model 6-20x56 with lighted mil-dot reticals which are located in the 1st plane are hard to beat, they're my first choice in a night calling optic. They bring close to 800.00 used when you can find them. The lighted reticals sure extend your hunting time in the stands after it starts to get dark and the hogs start coming in and the lighted retical doesn't get lost on a black hog at dusk.

Value for money is subjective, but I went for the Swarovski Z6i 2-12x50
If you compare them side by side, the light gathering at dusk is superior to the Nigtforce 3.5-15x50 and the current Zeiss and S&B Zeniths. I didn't look at other brands, but also own earlier Swarovskis and Leupolds, and the Z6 is superior to those also. In England I regularly hunt roe does through the winter right up until its too dark to take a shot and in Europe you often hunt boar by moonlight - so I can vouch for the Z6 in true low light conditions. But they are expensive - especially with a weak GBP and USD and a strong Euro at the moment.
