You'll be OK if you follow the signs to Wall Drug. Just make sure you stop at Mitchell. Wall Drug doesn't sell gun powder but it is a nice tourist trap!

This errand to pick up some powder is turning into more of an ordeal than I initially anticipated. Stopped for some more Starbuck's coffee; this time a triple shot with extra caffeine. Got on I-90 and drove as fast as I could to make up some time. Fired up some Little Feat on the iTunes and listened to Oh, Atlanta to remind me of home. Next thing I knew I was in some place named Rapid City. Go figure. Turned around and found Mitchell, SD. Thanks to the great directions from everyone, I found the shop in exactly the location it should be. Some said it was south of 90 and some said it was north. Everyone was right. Unfortunately, they do not have late evening hours. Closed an hour earlier. Plan to sleep in the car so I can be first in line for the morning. May not sleep too well as I'm still buzzing from the caffeine. Starting to have some trouble remembering why I'm here.

I am headed back home after quite a journey. Made it to the shop, waited for the doors to open first thing this morning and I was the only person in line. The shop owner eyed me cautiously as I nervously attempted to turn the cardboard heat diffuser in order to cover the company logo on my Starbuck's coffee cup. I sang out a cheery "Good morning sir" and asked him to point me in the direction of the Varget inventory explaining this was my first trip to his business, to Mitchell and to South Dakota and I was here to stock up on supplies big time. He just grimaced at me and said, "I've had to disconnect my phone because some bunch of guys from accurateshooter.com keep calling here every five minutes asking me to send them some kind of rifle powder. If you want Pyrodex, then I've got Pyrodex. But no Varget. Never had it, don't want it, will never get it. Pyrodex yes, Varget no. Maybe you need to go to Cabela's".

I want to thank everyone on the forum for sending in all those primer and powder alerts each day. Don't stop now. I may have come up empty-handed this trip, but it's like looking for gold in Alaska on all those TV shows. The big strike is just one interstate exit away.

its coming back I went to a local gun show here in Montgomery,al. and there was a guy who was selling 8lbder's for 220.00 a jug and 1 lb 'ders for 35.00 a bottle. went to another gun show today in Montgomery (yes 2 in 2 weeks) and picked up 4 - 1lb bottles for 25.00 apiece. bullets were there also primers at about 6-7 tables just not the kind I use.
