Lost US Mail

Yes, they suck. Have had two graduation cards for my daughter not make it to us this year from relatives.
I just had a package (a box of 30 cal Bergers) get delivered to the wrong address a couple miles from me. I have spent 3 weeks filing claims with the usps, calling them, etc. to no avail. The word “frustrating” doesn’t begin to explain how I’ve felt. I told the wife yesterday that I was about to just forget the whole thing before I say something to them on the phone and then have “some agency” knocking on my door.
 
It's a crapshoot. Some stuff has been terribly slow, first class as well as Priority, usually across some imaginary N/S line through the midwest going west from here. Mostly running normal times as long as mail stays to the east of that line.. usually. Got a package from AL 3 days earlier than predicted.

Junk mail doesn't stop, but I'm sure it helps clog the system. Only about 5% of my mail even makes it into the house. 20 years ago it was normal to get a large priority package from coastal WA state to rural eastern PA in 2 days. Now it takes 4 or 5 days from that part of the country to rural VA. Still waiting for a letter from a doctor containing a written prescription & some other paperwork. It's been 8 days. It's a 45 minute drive. WTF, over? Postage rates keep rising, while some services get slower, but Amazon still still seems to get their discounted rates & preferential treatment often requiring a 2nd delivery driver for packages around here. Go figure.
 
recently st louis area has had a rash of break-ins of the usps mail drop-boxes....

i recently received a piece of mail for someone a couple of miles from my house. i delivered it to the address because it looked official, like a title.....
i think the problems are everywhere.

All the time! I buy a few things along and about two years ago I went to using the 9$ priority mail envelope to send checks. Before that I could just spend 50 cents and drop a check in the mail, all of a sudden they started not showing up for 2wks or never. It's expensive but I'd rather spend the money than have the seller thinking I was trying to rip him off. Now I just send a photo of the check and the tracking number by text and at least the seller knows I've done my part... John

Did you mail all 3 at the same time and from the PO? if so, they never made out to the truck IMO.
I had this happen to me bought a MO at PO and mailed it after filling it out at the counter and dropping it in the box.
my reason for believing it never left the PO I had mailed MO to the same address at least 4-5 times and no problem till I mailed it from the PO 3 months till I could get a refund.

No. You might cal it anti-insurance. It costs an additional $25-30 out of pocket for the bank to stop payment in case it eventually does show up, then another $25 late fee if it's a credit card payment. Ask me how I know.

At least I got a sorry from the clerk. That & $55 takes care of everything.
