Lost rifle in Mesa, Arizona Area

Read what Nick posted ATF/FBI don't have the numbers unless the dealer has went out of business or died or both somehow, then the 4473s have to be sent to the ATF. Want the address?
likes been said- last i heard all the sent in 4473s are in boxes in a warehouse. the info on them is not categirized or computerized so when a trace is done they have to look through the boxes- of coarse there has been a push by some to computerize these records.- i dont know if thats been done or not.
Now i believe LE has searchable info on hot guns.
any cop can call it in and find out if a gun is hot. lost guns retrieved by LE prob get put in that to.

There is no national database for lost or stolen firearms, all that information is local law enforcement only and only if they decide to do it. Mostly if you file a report that's as far as it goes unless it's retrieved somehow and they do a search.

I hope this ok to post. I looked and didn’t see it anywhere else here on the forum. Looks like someone lost a rifle today near Mesa Arizona. An archery hunter found the cased rifle. The archery hunter then talked to a guy he saw in the area who is a member of another firearms/hunting forum, that guy put up a post asking if anyone lost a rifle near Mesa Arizona today.

I’ll put a link at the bottom here. If you know who lost that rifle or if it’s your rifle you can reach out to the guy who started the thread and hopefully get your rifle back. If for some reason you can’t PM him I’m happy to help.

It’s refreshing to see people doing the right thing, really refreshing. If for any reason this isn’t appropriate or is against policy please delete.

I’ve been following that thread on that forum it’s great to see it listed elsewhere. it’s great to see people doing the right thing ,waiting to see a great conclusion to the story with the owner getting his rifle back I would be devastated if it happened to me

A local boy from around here (south Florida) was promised a job as a congressional aide because his dad donated big money to get the congress critter elected. When all theses young adults showed up in DC there was not enough room for all of them in the congressman's office so he found jobs for them around DC in the fed government. The one from here worked in ATF transferring hardcopies of all the FFLs that lost their licenses to digital. The loss of FFLs was from the Clinton administration pushing the new law that all FFLs must have a storefront. The NRA pushed for them to stop doing this but it is believed that they never did, and most of them can be brought up at a seconds notice. The kid told his dad that at that time this was priority ONE for the ATF.
