BangSteel.com - Yes, Dan and the property owner do require that you take a class in order to shoot on the property. I can tell you from first hand experience that the class is worth the cost and then some. You won't find a nicer and more knowledgeable group than Dan, Forest & the rest of the instructors. The class is two days and you will fire 150+ rounds. The range he uses is a great place as well.

Yea he seems super nice but said the power company was working on one range so he doesnt currently have access to one mile targets, other than a rock over on the hillside. I dont mind paying the 360 dollars, would just like to be able to measure groups when done. Cant do that on a rock

I had to go out west for this. Tried Thunder Valley as well but wanted a little farther.

Rebel Ridge on border of KS/CO goes to 2,000 now and said he's taking it to 3,000. It's flat and vast! When I asked him what's behind the 2,000 yard target I shot, he said, "nothing for 45 miles".

@davidpatton where do you normally shoot? I’m trying to find a range beyond 100 yards. I’m in southern pines. Anywhere that has 500-1000 yards?

Just curious guys for those of you in the United States are you guys allowed to shoot on public land wherever you want?? I'm guessing you are and are very fortunate. Here in Australia in my state which is the second biggest state it is illegal to discharge a firearm on public land which sucks as we literally have unlimited space here due to small population but the worst rules so unless you know someone with a private farm who will let you shoot you are stuffed.

For those of you who have access to private land to shoot ELR did you get access through people you know or some other method ie knocking on the door and asking just curious ??
