Looking for some load data for 6.5 x47 L

Gentlemen, first post on Accurate Shooter so take it easy on me! ;) Haha! I 've looked at a BUNCH of threads on load data for the 6.5 x 47L , there seemed to be no real consensus on powder. And yes I know everybody has there favorite pet load, I'm just looking for a good starting point. I've decided on 130g Berger target bullets, I have RE 15, Varget and H4350 for powder. And either Rem 7 1/2 or BR-4's for a primer. Just looking for a good starting point. Thanks for your input!

Honestly if you start shooting the 140 hybrid you won't think about shooting any other bullet. 40-41.3 gr of h4350 with cci 450 primers and the 140 at least .030 off the lands and your bugholing. This has been the load for my customers Ive built them for as well. It will hold 1/4 moa vertical or better off my bipod at extended ranges consistently. I used it in my f-open rig with pretty good success also. I took a gal out a few days ago who had never shot past 100 yards. I put the steel target up at 810 yards and shot a couple shots to zero it for wind. I then gave her the gun and she shot a 3 shot group that was a hair under half moa off the bipod. I was very impressed with her natural skill for her first time behind the gun. Now she wants to go to some fclass matches and compete.

I shot some 107 SMK and 129 SST's the other day in my 6.5x47 Lapua, it was also data pulled from the internet and the Berger Manual. I burnt RL15 with very good results, some groups in the .3's (5-shot @ 100), but overall consistant all the way through. And I don't see anything wrong with the 130 gr. Berger in the 6.5x47 L, a few threads I came across claim that the 130's are the optimum bullet weight for the relative case size.

37.5 varget, CCI450 and 130 bergers is usually a good load. It could be near the upper end pressure wise so start low and work up.

All 3 powders you have will work fine. The magic for the 6.5x47 happens after published max loads. That is why most people shoot the cci 450 or cci br primer. They have a thicker cup and can withstand the higher pressure. My choice was varget and 123's, but varget and 130's should work fine.

i turned my necks for .004 clearance and after that i can shoot a casefull of H4350 with the 130 .my freebore is for the 140 but shoots the 130 better, getting 3025 fps from 28 7nch barrel and 1/4 moa to 800..hit 10 eggs in a row at 300 several times

I plan on using Varget and 123gr Scenars. I have both 450's and BR's to use. What is a good starting load? I have 200rds of factory Lapua 123gr ammo that I'm burning through at the moment. Shoots well but seems to be running on the slow side, around 2730fps or so. The factory ammo is accurate through...

This load works for me and the 123's, I was shooting 4 shot groups that day.

Dennis, is the only difference in those groups .2 change in charge?

YES, you are correct.

Dennis

PS: Seating depth, sometimes just .2 will also make a difference.

You can push the 123 Scenars pretty hard with Varget. I've gone to 39.5gr with no pressure signs at all in an Eliseo/Borden, shooting in very hot weather (obviously, work up slowly and carefully from the 36.0gr range). I found best accuracy at 39.0gr giving about 3,075 fps from a 30" barrel. These groups below were shot at 600 yards with sling, with shot #1 in each being the sighter (elevation added).

Sorry it took so long to get back here! Been busy. Lots of good replies, Thanks for all the info. Loaded 20 rounds with H4350 , got to shoot 9 of them before the rain was too much. I like the initial results with 4350 , but haven't really started pushing them yet, so more testing to come.

Again THANKS! for all the replies.
