Looking for some 115 berger data

Hello all

Just got my 243 Win rebarreled and I want to run the 115 bergers. Just wondering if anyone has some load data they would share. My rifle has a 24", 7.7 twist barrel.

Thanks,
Matt

Nobody is running this bullet? Well, I emailed Berger, so I hope to hear back soon. If someone is using these things, i'd like to hear how they shoot.

Try 42 gr of H4831SC, BR-2 or Russian Primers and stick the bullet in the lands .015" and see how thing go. You may be able to go up a grain or two, depending on your barrel, chamber, etc., but that should get you going pretty well to start.

I shot in my bench gun 42 and 42.6grs. of rl-22, 115 berger lapua brass and cci 200 primers. Velocity was 2988 average and 9 fps spread. To get the spread down I had to jam them .015-.018. I started jamming them at .005, fps was the same but the spread was around 28 fps so I just worked up to .015-.018 to get the spread to come down. The group size never changed. It would shoot in the low .3's at 200 yds. Within 300 rnds of the bbl. being shot I had 4 or 5 groups that were in the .0's at 100 yds for 5 shots. My best group at 1k was 10 shots in 5.067 and a score of 100. Average 10 shot groups at 1k were 7-8". Average 5 shot groups at 500yds were 1.25-2".
Hope this helps alittle.

Thanks jg,

I will give the 42 grains a try. Do you mind me asking what the specs are on your 243?

I have switched from the 115 to the 105 Hybrid. Similar BC and more velocity. Similar accuracy.

My action is a 40x that has been reamed and a oversized bolt installed it has a shahene tracker stock. The last bbl. was a broughton 1-7 twist 29" long. I just put on a new krieger 1-8 twist bb. but have not had time to work alot with it.

Tell us about the 105 hybrids. Whats their bc, velocity your getting and hows the extreme spread? Hows your accuracy?

How are you guys getting the measurement to the lands? For instance, when you say the bullet is .005 off the lands, how do you measure to where the lands start. This is a noob question for sure, but I have never done it.

Thanks,
Matt

Might want to look at this - http://www.dolphinguncompany.co.uk/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=72&Itemid=93

or this - http://blog.sinclairintl.com/2009/03/26/determining-bullet-seating-depth/

+1 on WBogg's comment. Why shoot the 115 VLD when the 105 hybrid has a higher BC and is not as tempermental as to seating depth?

115 VLD BC: G1 .545
105 hybrid BC G1 .547

The 105 hybrids are a bit hard to find right now. Only source I found was Bruno's who said they just got a shipment on Jan 16.

Well, I finally got around to shooting some RL-22 with the 115 Berger Hunters. Man it shoots great, 42.5 grains and I got one ragged hole at 100 yds. However, I keep reading that RL-22 maybe pretty temp sensitive. Could some of you weigh in and tell me if you have noticed that.

Thanks,
Matt
