Quick load help please.

Hello all,

I was hoping one of you could run my info through your quick load, just wondering what my velocity might be. 243 Winchester, 105 A-Max, 42.5 grns H4350, Winchester case, CCI BR primer, 24" 7.7 twist 5R barrel, 895ft Altitude, 50 deg, 50% hum.

You didn't specify OAL, but with a 2.710" OAL it predicts 3,200 fps. at 61,600 fps, so it's on the hot side.

Eric, don't know if I did something wrong or not but when I plugged in the 24" barrel length and the 50" temp. all other figures were left at default, my QL predicted a M.V. of 2991 at a pressure of 58,147psi. I used the same 2.710 OAL. Could you please recheck, perhaps I'm missing something important. Thanks

My QLoad database is a couple years old, and I think Hornady has changed the Amax 105 design in recent years. That said, with 24.0" barrel, 54.0 grain default case capacity, 3626 psi default start pressure, and 50-deg F powder temp, QL is predicting 2924 fps at 56660 psi, with 42.5 grain load of H4350 behind 105gr Amax, 2.710" OAL.

NOTE: there is no way to input primer type, and no way to correct for barrel variations (other than length), expect by using the "weighting factor". I left that set at 0.65 default value.

I thought the 'weighting factor' default was .5 But my QL is around 6 years old. Maybe things have changed.

Nomad my QL is only 3 months old and the default weighting factor is .50 on mine. I also notice a few different setting on mine compared to the Forum Boss's version, I'm sure that QL updates as often as necessary to keep current. Also I always try to keep in mind it's just a place to start, and projections are not written in stone.
