Looking for powder recommendations for 223 69 gr smk bullet with 1:10 twist

I have your exact same rifle; Tikka T3 lite .223 - 22.5" 1/10 twist. I also shoot Sierra 69 gr Matchkings. My accuracy node was found at 23.2 gr of XBR 8208 using LC brass, CCI 400 and a 2.255 OAL. This load is a little on the slow side but yields me 2700 fps. I like XBR 8208 with this bullet in that I do not have to worry about a compressed load.

I did attempt to try the 69 gr Tipped Matchkings and they were no dice. They are longer than the original Matchkings and would not stabilize in the 1/10 twist.

Since we have the same rifle, I thought I'd share one other load. I have also developed a load for the 50gr Sierra Blitzkings. 26.4 gr of Benchmark yielded the best accuracy.

I have had very good luck with the SMK 52 hpbt, 24.3 grains of Benchmark powder and CCI400 primers using Lapua brass, velocity at around 3050 fps. I wanted to get out farther so that is why I am trying out the 69 grain. Crossing my fingers it will be stable in a 1:10 twist and hoping to get 3100 fps.

I've had good luck with ramshot tac in my ar. Accurate as varget but more velocity.
I use Tac also and have good luck in my m4 also , but there is alot better for accuracy out there but tac will push a .223 bullet very fast... If you look at their reloading data , a free download , you will see how much they say is safe compared to the manuals you will be shocked...

Might consider VVN140 at around 24grs, plus or minus a few tenths. I don't have or load for a Tikka so I haven't a clue what your rifle likes in a .223. But my AR's and bolt .223 like the V140 pushing 69gr Sierras.

I also find 25.3 grains of Varget to do the trick with 69 grain SMK's. Shoots very well in both a 1 in 9 Savage bolt gun, and a 1 in 8 AR.

I’ve had good luck with ar-comp. Usually one grain less than varget would give me the same velocity as varget.

The Sierra manual actually lists Viht N540 as the accuracy powder for 69 gr. Match Kings in .223 bolt rifles.

I load it in Lapua cases with Rem. 7 1/2 primers and obtain high levels of precision.

N540 is expensive, so you may want to experiment with other powders.

Not meaning to hyjack hear but I'm playing around with this same bullet in my AR.

So my question is about where should velocities be with this bullet out of a 16" barrel?

I've ran them up to 2900 fps out of my AR but it seems accuracy fades after 2800 fps. And I have yet to find what I would consider great accuracy

My Winchester Mod 70 with a 26" 1/9 twist likes 69gr SMK with Lapua brass using 24.5grs of Varget and CCI-450 primers.
