Looking for Help Identifying Benchrest Rifles

" As those little ankle biters grow old and leave the nest, your thoughts will often drift to your dad. "

Has been true in my case. I have 1/3 of my fathers collection, they will be passed down to the grandchildren who are shooters.

The firearms don't take up much space and don't eat anything. Oil them up good and keep them in a dry secure space. Both my daughters were shooting at the age of 6, that will be here before you know it.

Just my thoughts.

I'd keep them also. They'll be there for you when you get your family raised and you're ready to shoot. You'll never be able to replace these.

Sorry for your loss. You have some very fine rifles. The first and last would make outstanding varmint rigs. I wouldn't make any rash decisions.

Good Luck,

Joe

I agree with keeping the rifles, but that is of course, your decision. I traded a gun once that I had inherited from a neighbor. I was young and short on finances and wanted a different rifle. Have kicked myself many times. Guns don't eat any feed standing in the corner. If I were you I'd definitely keep the 6 BR's. If you don't think that you would ever shoot bench rest, it may be better to sell the PPC's to someone that does.

Good afternoon, all!

Firstly, I would like to thank anyone and everyone that has any words of advice in advance. I also apologize for not being better educated in the world of benchrest and for taking up both space and time in this forum. I've spent a couple months trying to search for information trying to identify these guns on my own and have wound up more confused than ever. I also have one very active toddler who requires most of the free time I once had to do online research!

The backstory: my father was hoping to get into the world of benchrest, but I think he also just enjoyed collecting the guns. He had 7-8 benchrest rifles (and several other handguns, shotguns, and rifles) but after his death two years ago, a few managed to disappear. Five of the guns in his collection have been recovered and delivered to me. I'm hoping to identify these guns and most probably sell them so they can be put to use by somebody who can better appreciate them. I was enjoying a bit of rifle and handgun practice in the hopes of competing before parenthood, but I never even came close to this realm of shooting.

All five are either 6mm ppc or 6mm br, but I can't say anything else about them. Some have a polymer style body and two are wooden. All have different markings on the barrels, different scopes, etc. I'm not uploading any pictures yet in case this isn't the proper place to do so. I recently moved to San Antonio, TX so I'm not familiar with any of the gun shops around here. Does anyone know of someone in this area that could help me properly identify or appraise these guns, or is there someone online (either here or somewhere else) that can point me in the right direction?

Again, I greatly appreciate any help offered!

Years ago there was a good gunshop on San Pedro as I recall. I dont recall the name but I bet they could help w/ appraisal.

Try to find a local gunCLUB and take a couple guns to the range on match day. Ask a couple shooters about them and see what they say. Someone will be interested.
