What's a deer lease? In Ohio you have to get wrtten permission to hunt on private property. You have to carry the permit with you when your hunting. The property owner should tell you if he allows others on the property.I have friends in Columbus Indiana looking for a Deer lease. They would be happy just to shoot a couple of Does. They are both retire veterans. Just looking for a place to hunt.
Hoping someone could steer me in the right direction.
Thanks

Very common here in KY due mainly to the statistics below. We do have WMAs that have draw hunts for the Public at Large to access these areas, and KYDF&W does an exemplary job of managing them.
If you are not a Landowner or know someone who is that you can pay or trade sweat equity for Hunting access, you are limited to the Outfitter/Guide Services, or apply for the WMAs.
I believe Ft. Knox and Ft. Campbell still have draw hunts as well.

Almost all private land went to Lease in Ohio over 20 years ago. $$$$As if their are no hunting leases in Ohio….lol
I haven’t been here that long, but I have been extremely lucky to get permission on two different properties. Neither property owner will allow me to pay, but keeping in mind what a lease costs, I give each of them a nice gift every year.Almost all private land went to Lease in Ohio over 20 years ago. $$$$
I think usually it is exclusive access, but I have heard of some leases with stipulations. With these deer leases, does one get exclusive access or does it vary? Season long or a smaller time period?
Just curious as we don't have them where I live with the exception of outfitters. I suppose could google it, but I'd rather hear from real folks that are in the know.
Earlier this year there were rumors a very large landowner in Idaho was going to follow a VRBO type model for land access, breaking up their land holdings into many parcels and offering daily/weekly/monthly "subscriptions." Want to go hunt on parcel 10 next Wednesday? It will cost you $xx for the day. I can't imagine the s**t show that would create.
