Looking for advice on my first "20"

I'm aware the 20 VTT is a necked down and blown out 222. My point is, with regard to case capacity, they'll be nearly the exact same. To me, it just seems like a lot of extra cost and added work, for zero benefit, especially in a switch barrel setup.

I understand what your telling me, and it is in fact approx. 10-12% less case capacity than a Practical or a Tactical. - The cost difference for this build is zero (between a Turbo and a different 20 caliber cartridge) as the gunsmith I'm using has both reamers in his tooling inventory. - Both are getting custom dies done with the barrels, basically I wanted to try something a little different, I have the 222 & 223 Lapua brass in hand. - Chambering work is just that regardless of which reamer is used. - I selected the Turbo based on Todd's accuracy claims for it with 40 gr. bullets.

I just wanted to pop on and thank everyone for their help.
I believe that i'm gong to do a 20Practical simply for the ease of finding brass and the fact that I've got the dies and a bushing for the 20P on the way. I'll call Redding and get the 20cal decapping set up shortly. I will post pics when she's up and running.

You won't regret your decision. My 20 Practical is absolutely my favorite/most used rifle in my stable. It has a 20" heavy 10 twist BHW barrel on a Savage action in a bedded stock and makes an awesome truck gun or bench gun and with good load development it has been close to an honest 1/2 MOA rifle with 32gr V-Max and 24 gr NTX and still a solid 3/4 MOA with 39gr Sierras. I use it for squirrels, rabbits, prairie dogs (some out to 500+ yards), crows (some out to 400+ yards), groundhogs and even an occasional coyote. I've had it for close to 5 years and shot close to 3500 rounds through it to date I'm guessing and it's still going strong. I have brass that started out as once fired LC brass that I necked down that has had an additional 4-5 firings on them and they still look perfect. Have fun with it and update us with some target pics when you get it up and running.

I must say my gunsmith doesn't like the 20 practical too much because the neck is so short. So... I had him ream my barrel in 20 Tactical. Much longer neck and just as easy to form with the dies. Only one pass in the forming die and it's done. He likes it much better. But.... he's the gunsmith.
