Looking for a New PD/Ground Squirrel Rig

Hi Guys,

My shooting partner is looking for a new gun. I am just fishing for opinions for him. Here's the deal. He wants a gun in .223 caliber, synthetic stocked, heavy enough to see bullet impact in the scope. I purchased a Cooper M38 Montana Varminter in 20 Vartarg that suits the bill just fine. Will a Cooper M21 in .223 have to much recoil to see impact in scope? Excluding Savage, what are your opinions of other makes of factory rifles/models?

I can see the hits with my Rem 700 pss synthetic (.223)and my Cooper MTV (.223AI) wood stocked.
