Looking for a gunsmith to rebarrel a Ruger M77 to 22-250 in Indiana area.

I'm nowhere near Indy, but I do have a Douglas XX Air Gage varmint barrel chambered in 22-250 and fit to a Ruger 77 available. This barrel has less then 180 rounds through it. Built it for a customer as a gift to his dad, and he barely shot it and 7 years later had me change it out for a 6.5 Creed. SS No7 varmint contour finished in Gun Kote charcoal gray.
Wouldn't take much to lash it up to another Ruger.

Have I heard that removing the stock barrel from a Ruger 77 is horrible?? jd
Not true.
I'm glad to hear that -- if that holds for the old tang safety models. I've got two of em that both need a barrel. Urbanrifleman's deals and reviews are great. I'd love to modernize these old war horses. jd

Not only is it not difficult, I have had Ruger 77's come loose almost as I was putting the wrench on. I started check with a crescent wrench every time I put a 77 into the vice and at least a third were easily removed with that. I never saw one which was hard to remove. This is not true of Number Ones, by the way.
The 77 is one of the super easy actions to re-barrel. WH
