Anyone with throats setup for 215 weight range ever step back down and shoot lighter bullets like the Juggernaut 185's?
My rifle is throated for the 215 berger hybrids so that bullet base us above the doughnut. This puts the 185's up in the neck a bit. I have more Juggernauts on hand than the 215 so I loaded some up to process my new brass.
WOW! I shot my best ever 5 shot 308 group at 100 yards! somewhere in the low .300's. May load up more to see if it was a fluke.
Anyway, I had to use more powder than my standard load since the bullet was seated so far out. No pressure signs at all.
Have any of you ran the lighter juggernauts seated long and got more speed with the increased powder charge? My speed for those 5 was about 2755 and primers were not showing any signs at all. Wondering if I can get more speed and keep the accuracy. This would close the edge the 215's have and not have to deal with their recoil.
My 215 load is very promising but not very forgiving in any gun handling mistakes at all!
