long range with 6mm

guys i am shooting an older rem. 6mm 1-10 twist, i am looking for some help with load data and shooting technics others have been using that is working for them. will be shooting from 2- 600 maybe 700yds. have leupold 4.5x14x50 targetfine duplex scope . any help will be appreciated.

what is a mag pri, and what type groups do you get out of the 87 . i have been using the 58 vmax deadly little sucker, if you hit something

I am using the 87 Vmax with just over 35 gr of IMR4064 in 3 grove PacNor 26" plus Vias break. My 6mm 700 Rem really came close to a 1000 yd dog last month and loves to blow things up in the 500-600 yd range. I really like the 1x10" twist for the 87. I tried several bullets in the 70-95 gr range, but none could produce the accuracy and maintain velocity. The .400BC keeps the bullet well in the supersonic range at 1000 yards on steel. Chronograph was just over 3300fps. Work up carefully. Old Doug

thanks for the replies guys, keepum coming trying to learn as much as possible . what scopes are youall using thinking of getting a mildot scope, what is your technics in getting those long shots to connect. i am pretty good 300 and in but who isnt.

bulldurham,
I just pulled this data off my QuickLoad program. It's for a SAMMI spec 6mmRem using the established OAL of 2.825 out of a 26" barrel, all are near max loads. REDUCE BY 5% AND WORK UP

Vmax-87gr - IMR3031/39.0gr = 90.0% fill - 100% burnt - 3357 fps
Vmax-87gr - IMR4064/41.0gr = 95.2% fill - 100% burnt - 3350 fps
Vmax-87gr - Varget / 40.5gr = 91.8% fill - 99.9% burnt - 3275 fps

The Varget load is my favorite 6mmAI fireform load with bullet seated .010 into the lands, but it also shot great in one of my old 6mm Rem with the bullet seated to just touch.
