6mm BR Norma

Hi as you will figure out I'm new to the forum & the 6mm BR
I have a
Nesika single shot action
A Krieger 1/10 twist 24in barrel
Jewel trigger
MC m stock.

I also have a 243 AI in same speak but 25in barrel.
What i will be using the guns for is foxing.
I will be shooting at rangers up to 500 or 600
after lots of practice.
Is the 6mm BR the way to go at this type of range, Or is it 243 country,
What is the maximum effective 1 shot kill with a 6mm BR Norma. In my Owen mind i feel the BR should be up to the job,But some folks with no experience say it is to small.
I only need the one gun for this job,And would like the help of you who shot these guns regular.
many thanks col

Hi for fox shooting to 600 yards the 6mmBR is perfect if you want an expanding match bullet use the 105gr A Max and an 8 twist it will give you your best ballistics with an expanding bullet. As you already have the 243 AI just shoot it until the barrel is dead about 1000 rounds the fit a 26" 8 twist BR and you will love it they are truly awsome cases with heavy bullets.

I am going to sell one,
and the 6mm BR is already on its way, with the 1/10 twist, what will this stabilize, and can i get away with it,for the 600 yard shots.

That 10 twist barrel should stabilize a 95 Berger VLD. That is about as big a bullet you will be able to use unless it is some kind of heavier flat base bullet. Also a 95 Berger will have enough power left at those ranges to do a job on a Fox.

if i chose to go the BR way,as i have not try ed any of them yet.)are they so much better than the 243,and do you only get about 1000 rounds out of a 243 AI.
i have a night force 8/32/ 56 np2 dd what kind of accuracy can i expect from it.
and i don't mean the occasional good group,i mean consistently
this help is very much appreciated

COL48,,,,,,,,The BR will do just fine...There is an article here on this site written by Danny Reever. Look in the "Articles Archive" and you should find it. He goes into detail about his experiences with a 10 twist BR. He gives loads and results. It is a well written and an informitive article. It should answer most of your questions.
As time goes on and you start using the gun, keep us informed about the accuracy and the loaads you decide on.
