Long range .22

We just returned from stretching our .22s out to 300yds. This was our first attempt at that distance. It was a definitely pleasant way to spend the morning. It’s just too bad that we ran out of scope adjustments. I thought a 25 moa rail would handle that distance but my p.o.i. ended up 8.75” low.

Gonna need a bunch for way out there and also a lot of travel in your scope.

I have mostly 50 moa mounts on my guns and can dial out to 500 but seldom shoot out that far.

What scope were you using?
I'm curious about that also. The two rifles that I shoot at 300 yds. are zeroed at 50. With a 40 gr. bullet going about 1070 fps I dial up somewhere around 45 moa. One rifle has a 20 moa rail, the other has a 30 moa rail.

Have a BSCAR on my CZ and a DIPinc on my Anschutz. Both are 25MOA and get you to 300 OK with most scopes... Maybe I should say with MY Vortex scopes......

I have a Vortex Golden Eagle mounted on a 25 MOA rail atop a CZ 457 MTR. The Ammo today was SK Match (red box) and Aguila. I’m not sure how much we’ll be shooting at that distance. If I mounted a 30 MOA, I’m sure it would give enough elevation for the 300 yard range. I checked around online today and it seems as if the price of rails has risen dramatically. I think $100 is pretty exorbitant for a rail.

I just doped my 10/22 out to 325 yards the other day. It took 43 moa. The scope on this rifle is an older 6-24 Simmons sfp, mil dot with moa adjustment. Check out dipinc they may have what you're looking for.

at 8.75 low at 300 yards you only needed an extra ~3 moa more

@Topwater Consider keeping your rail and getting Burris Signature XTR rings.
I have the DIP 25 MOA rail and the Signature XTR rings can change inserts to go out to 300 and beyond.

If you wanted to have 50, 100, 200 and beyond covered, you could consider two setups.

The XTRs will go back on the rail with minimal readjustment required as long as you leave the rings around the scope set.

I had no problems reaching out past 300yds with my 457 MTR, and it was equipped with a BScar 25 MOA rail. But, I had an Athlon Cronus 4.5-29x56 mil scope mounted, which has plenty of internal elevation adjustment to reach 300. However, IIRC, I had to use the reticle to hold-over to reach 400yds. My come-ups with a 50yd zero are 1.4 mils@100, 7.8 mils@200, 13.7 mils@300. SK LR Match & Lapua Polar Biathlon both chrono at 1100fps or a tad faster, and will get me out to these distances with a couple of tenths fewer mils. I used SFP scopes with MOA adjustments for 40+yrs, but when I started shooting PRS-style matches, it didn't take long for me to convert to ffp mil scopes, for both CF & RF shooting.

i can get to 400 yards with my RIMX 30moa rail and an athlon ares ETR i do have to use 4 mils of retical though. 300 is a piece of cake!
Lots of fun isnt it!!!

I am using a Vortex Strike Eagle now on my Vudoo with a 40 MOA base and no issues dialing to 300 and beyond. Shot to 300 in a match this past weekend. 13 mils. I can dial 27 mils on the scope and got 10 mils in the reticle. I can dial to almost 500 yards.

This setup has Burris Pos-Align ring inserts that are shimmed with a calcd. thickness of plastic credit card to maximize up turret adjustment beyond 50-yd. zero, and have shot it at cow pies beyond 400 yds. (2X Nikon actually-rated at 120 MOA total adjustment. Yeah I cried when Nikon went out of the scope business).

Another handgun is a Kidd-barrelled Ruger Charger with a Horus Vision Predator H-70 SMOA reticle that nets me about 140 MOA of up turret + reticle.

The DIP 25 MOA picatinny rail is a good start, but then I would use Burris Tactical Signature rings. These have plastic spherical inserts that you can adjust scope angle up to an addtional 40 MOA.

can dial to 400 with a 20 moa and NF NX8 on a rimX. Not sure how much past I can go with dialing. Have shot to 500 but think jt was dial plus reticle
