Lone Star Tackdriver

I'm going to compete in the Texas Tack driver at Pine Valley this coming September.
Any recommendations on a variable scope that handles mirage well???
What's the best competition reticle to use at 328 yards???
Thanks

Since the rifle max weight is 22 lbs, you have lots of choices. The old nightforce 12 x 42 benchrest scope is tock solid if u can find one.
Some go with the march magesta type scopes. Really, your pocketbook is the limit.

only 35 people signed up. Still plenty of room.
Don't miss your opportunity to participate in the Lone Star Tackdriver.

When Jeremiah Keefe started our TDL up here in Pa, Shooters were dragging
their feet right up to the last month. It picked up a little momentum going into
the following couple of years. Now it's getting to be "Snooze, you lose". Jeremiah
added ten more available spots for this year. They got snapped up in a heart beat
with the reserve list growing.

I have an idea for a prize, that I will hand off to Jeremiah for this years shoot coming
up here at the end of May.......Win the TDL, and receive the match fee monies for the
main event in Georgia......

Some have asked about the rifle weight. The limit is 22 pounds including all attachments, scope etc. That was chosen to purposfully include F-Open rifles. The only difference is that the Lone Star Tackdriver rifles are limited to .30 cal. I see below that the F-Open limit is .35 cal.
Please let me know if anyone thinks this caliber difference is going to make a material difference and we can discuss it.
Meanwhile, Lets get this match filled up!

F-Open (F-O):

PRS will get slaughtered out there. The PPC's have dominated even at the 330yd mark
It is somewhat hard to argue your point either way. While it is true that the small 6's have dominated the Original Tackdriver, the real story probably is that talented shooters have dominated the match. There are several of those winners who fit what Bum Philips once said about Don Schula. He could take his team and beat you. Or he could take your team and beat you. Those talented shooters are hard to beat but a dark horse does come along occasionally so don't count anyone totally out of the game. The beauty of this game is that there are no handicaps other than what you place on yourself. Bring what you think will do well and have at it.
But, at the end of the day, there will be only one winner. As it should be.

We are just trying to give folks a small taste of what the Original Tackdriver is like.

This is one of those match's you will get your ass and head handed to ya' at the
same time, and can't wait for the next one. We need more Tack Driver Lite's as
I see it, and spread out where it would be nice to hit one once a month......

Well, a couple more hours, I'll be out in the shop being devious again . Stay tuned.

PRC rifles may be at a slight disadvantage, but a good shooter behind a good rifle always has a chance.
Absolutely. My point is that the level of shooting required to compete at a Tack Driver comp is very high. The type of ability, skill, and shooting discipline would naturally come from BR and also F-Class to some extent. It is just a completely different discipline with very different fundamentals and purposes. Not only that, but the rifles are polar opposites. The load tuning is on another level, all of it.
Not being pessimistic or downgrading PRS by any means! It's just an extremely difficult task to step into the BR realm without a BR setup and expect to compete at a high level...
