Local gun shop powder stock

Stopped by the local gun shop that has reloading supplies.
I found them pretty well stocked up on powder.
Varget was $368 for 8 pound jugs. They also had a bunch of one pound jugs.
I saw H335 ,H110 among other powders.
The guy behind the counter said that the powder is not moving.
They had Gold Metal match small pistol Magnum primers in stock at $119 a thousand.
Lots of pallets of bulk pistol and rifle ammo also.

They are priced at 50 a pound and have been there several weeks

I just paid $50/lb plus tax for a few cans when I was out-of-state. But at least there wasn't any shipping/Hazmat charges to deal with.

Gee Whiz, wonder why it is not moving ? It can sit there forever at that price, in my opinion. Nothing like gouging a buyer in that LCG.

Our locals all have powder and primers on the shelf but they paid out the ying yang for some of it--doubt prices will drop for a while yet--owner explained how he got reamed on primers from his source but felt like he needed something in stock
If the high price stuff sits then they will be slow to reorder more--I would guess
Now we have powder and primers but bullets are all out of stock--

My opinion, based on current wholesale prices, he is just trying to make a little bit. He is offering a service to local buyers. He has to pay hazmat and his overhead. Put him out of business if you must, nobody likes high prices.

For the most part, most of my nearby shops are running lean ... even sparse. Prices are coming down, albeit slowly. But it's still a rare thing to have loads of items on the reloading shelves.

Think about it. You can buy decent 22lr ammo for around 7 cents apiece, but it costs over 10 cents for a cf primer? Is it because Vista owns almost all the reloading components? Can you say monopoly?
