Loading supplies coming to local Walmart

was in the local walmart today, which is rare for me, and i spied the gun section had been remodled and in the ammo case were a few boxes of Sierra Bullets. never since this walmart was built in the early 90s have they had reloading supplies. i asked the guy and he pointed out where they will have some loading tools and other bullets and he said powder and primers. it may not be much but its a start at least in the right direction.

i know walmart has driven many smalls out but in this area we dont have many LSGs. i know some walmarts have had loading stuff for a long time. ill keep an eye on it.

There are two super walmarts in the town where I live & I can't imagine either one of them selling any reloading equipment or supplies.

Both of them started out selling guns & ammo, but one had to stop that due to theft. The other one just dwindled down to a small amount of ammo & practically no firearms.

My understanding is that Sam's daughter is liberal. There are many dynamics involved in Walmart deciding to handle reloading supplies. I hope it's a feeble attempt to make a dollar. But, on the other hand, if Walmart went into it in a bigger way it could be bad for the shooting vendors we use now. I personally believe one day people of our generation will look back and be sad we spent a dime with the likes of Walmart and Amazon. I've never understood why Palmetto State Armory stopped keeping reloading supplies in their stores. Maybe it's an insurance/liability thing.

I miss the days of going into a local gun store and shooting the breeze with customers and people in the store. We just had one that had been in Charleston over 30 years close the doors.

Do you guys ever think about how much (little) we interact with other shooters in person?

The local gun/sporting goods store… My After School minding service…
Learned to hand load for and under the supervision of a lot of “alternative parents”.
In those days the store had a “back room” loading bench available for their customers that bought primers, powder and bullets there. All the equipment that many just either could not afford or have the room for at home and advice & experience for any novice before they made the leap into buying their own equipment..
The days of AuH2O for president…

Walmart is the devil! But if the devil can add stability to the market I am all for it. If Walmart has primers at $45 a 1000, who is going to buy them on the net for $129? I would love to see the hoarders sell at a loss. They will if someone as big a walmart sells at something close to reasonable. Sadly I think this must be left to the local managers and I don't see it happening at many stores.

Hate to see this turn into a bashing thread. I frequent Walmart along with many other businesses. There are a few around that I have been treated below badly and I do not use them anymore. It had nothing to do with their politics. Mostly pricing and CS.

We have a Super Store nearby which we shop for a lot of things. Now with their Hired Shoppers pushing large carts that has become a source contention. Also I price check and their prices are not always the best. We also have a small chain grocery store that has an in-house butcher shop and their meat beats any of the other stores hands down

I have stated many times that our "Mart" carries very little in the way of gun supplies, ammunition or even archery. Though now we do have a small chain, Runnings" that has opened up and they do stock firearms and a well stocked reloading inventory. So there is that and Fleet Farm to shop those needs. From my shopping searches their prices are about on par with buying on line and paying shipping and hazmat!

So if Walmart will match those stores then I'm OK with that. I'll still price shop.

As far as ammo, reloading, guns, etc. goes Walmart has always flopped around on the bank like a catfish. Their only loyalty is to the almighty dollar. Only thing worse than Walmart is Dick's.

They flop around because there's no money in those departments. Hunting, fishing, fabrics, etc, they're all loss leaders that only serve to get people in the door to buy everything else.

I was union most of my adult life and I'm anti-union. I don't want to get spanked so I won't say anymore but, unions generally aren't all they're cracked up to be.
Most, if not all, unions are responsible for factories moving to Mexico or Red China, poor quality products, that were once high quality. Also unions contribute to inflation and prices on items, like automobiles and other goods.
