Loading n133 for the first time... it don’t fit

So I am reading Tony Boyers book and loading n133 for the first time. His max load in is tuning development is 30.3 I think I may be missing something? It don’t fit?.?. As you can see from the photo, a long drop tube is not the issue. Besides scotch taping the bullet to the top of my brass, what are the options?

Is there a funnel in the top of the tube? Just curious because I loaded some up at 30.3 grains with a Forster Blue ribbon funnel a couple days ago. I could have got more in there.

The key is to not dump the pan at once. Let the powder swirl around the funnel. You can get plus 30 in there for sure.

Ok. I’ll try that. There is a funnel at the top of it. It’s 1 foot long

For this article, I used 30.6
Looking at your cases, have they been fire formed?

Yes. If they haven’t been fire formed, try about 27.5 of N133

30.3 was my go to load for a lot of barrels, it fits.

Slow pour on the side of the funnel letting it fall in there. Nice drop tube btw. Gotta be fireformed

If you can make it work for you, give LT-32 a go. You will most likely be between 27.8 & 28.2 and it meters, pours & fits a lot easier than 133. I use the 133 for FFing & that's about it. 133 is a great powder but there are options.......Best of luck.

To answer everybody’s question. They are fireformed many times over. I was just pouring way to fast

I won’t say who, but I have seen shooters take a small aluminum dowel that was a little smaller than the neck of the case and tap the powder down with a small hammer. You would be surprised how far you can compress it with very little effort.

These are guys that Like to shoot 68 grn boat tails at 3500+ FPS.

but you are fine. Slow pour, long tube does the trick.

Maybe try this. I gave up on drop tubes etc. I have a vibrating tool marker here.. Yeah, I just turn it on and lay the thing on the side of the case. Vibrates the powder right on down.. I usually place my finger on top..

If you’re using an electronic scale, have a second pan and you can take the entire weighing cycle to fill each case.

I've found that usually when you first start to dump the powder a large amount flows out. Take a piece of white paper and scotch tape it to the back of your powder tube. Now you can see and control that first gob.
