I am wondering what brand of reloading equipment benchrest and long range shooters use most. is there a brand prefered over another? Im getting in to benchrest and long range and i have been using RCBS but im setting up a new reloading room and was going to get new equipment. Any advice would help thanks

Best bet go to a match in your area and see and ask what they use. Works for me.

I believe that the main difference that you will find is in what dies are used, and in how carefully powder charges are weighed. Just about any single stage press should work just fine. Attending a match, and asking questions, is always a good idea.

I think both Thud and Boyd are correct before you buy anything go to several matches and see what others are using and ask, then you can sort out the B.S from the sound advice. There will probably be several guy's there that have been doing it for forty years or more, there has to be some valuable knowledge there. And the winning guy's at the range weather they be 80 or 25 years old if there steadily winning there doing something right Good luck my friend.

Short-, Medium-, or Long-Range Benchrest? Or, Long Range? Which discipline is it?

I'd spend a lot of time at 600 to 1000 yard matches and get a feel for the type and Brand of the equipment being used. This stuff can get expensive, especially the good stuff, so you might want to get it right the first time.

Also, you can scan the articles in this site [not the forum] for top shooters in that class, and give them a call. Most will be happy to field your questions and identify matches in your area.
