Load development question

Some competitors shoot 24 or more shots in 50 seconds reloading with another magazine half way through.

And some dont.

Doesnt change the fact that its hotter then hell out here. Have those guys come down to South Texas and tell me how enjoyable it is afterwards.

Im in the same boat in TX, shooting in the shade is really all one can do. I bought one of those barrel cooler contraptions and Im not sure if it really makes any difference at all. I mean technically I see how its better but nothing is going to cool down fast when youre blowing 90 degree air through it. I leave 4-5 minutes in between each shot. I say if you dont want to leave your hand on the barrel for a few seconds its too hot to continue to shoot for load development.

Im actually considering skipping shooting this weekend just because its hot
I have stopped with rifle.. I tryed pistol which is not covered like the rifle bay and was drenched by 10am and left.. On the 30 min drive home with the a/c on kill I was still wet when I got back even my hair.. I have just started doing brass prep etc and putting it away for months down the road...

I and others have shot match winning scores when temperature and humidity are both near 100. Never shot a highpower match under cover. It's not a matter of liking, enjoying or any other good feeling about it.

It's one of life's compromises some are willing to deal with to meet their objectives. Others may choose not to. The person best qualified to judge conditions' quality for each one of us is themselves. Most others typically have biases and/or different standards so their opinions will differ. A few have other issues they cannot deal with and choose to belittle others in any way possible.

Because that wont clear the swamp that develops in my ass crack.

And I dont notice any wandering or anything like that however I dont see how purposefully heating my barrel to uncomfortable levels could ever be a good thing despite what you claim. And for 10 shots I wouldnt worry about it but I shoot a lot more than 10. Well I dont notice any wandering that doesnt coincide with me getting pissed off from sweat running in my eyes.
When not cooling the barrel stick the hose in the crack. May clear up some of the SWAMP. LMFAO

In really hot weather (I hate the heat) I try to shoot early in the mornings or late in the evenings. I try to time it so about the time I'm finished, it's getting too dark to see. I have a 250' range across the street in a field. Here is what I use to haul gear and shoot from. The shade really helps keep me and the rifle cool. I can't use it if the wind is blowing much but usually on really hot days, the wind is dead calm. Too bad these aren't still available. I locked it upright and put in a tow bar, and a tote to haul everything in.

Could not have said it better my self!!
I work in long sleeve FR shirt with A FR T shirt under, with rubber sleeves & rubber gloves on working on high voltage power lines all day. I sure as hell can go shoot in the heat because I do it for the love of it. Heat or no heat. That is just A fact of life here in Texas! Love it or leave it!!

For a range-only bolt rifle with thin-jacketed bullets I restrict sustained rate of fire to one round per minute. For load development I start with 3-shot groups from a clean barrel, preferably cool.
