load data for a 20 practical

Have 3 of my own 20 Prac barrels, 2 others familiar to me, they ALL like to jump .020"ish, pretty much any powder that works good in 223 works good in 20 Prac, and for a cheap, short range plinking or small varmint round don't overlook the Midway Dogtown/Midsouth VNE 34g flat base HP, they will shoot surprisingly well for 9 cents a piece vs. 20+ cents per for everything else.

Go on the Hodgdon website and use the loadings listed for the 20 Tactical - the two cartridges are almost identical as far as loadings go.

Robert

It seems with my AR rifle that the .20 tactical load data found at the hodgdon web site had been odd in my .20 practical..
( This is what I found, WITH MY RIFLE) I just wanted to share my experience and see if anyone has found the same.
Use caution with any load data.
Anyways:
I've tried to use hodgdon .20 tactical load data, but it seems there max load is a good starting load in my gun.
Every load I've used I have worked up.
Example..if start load data says 20 gr of a given powder charge and max load is 24 gr. I started with 22 gr and worked up in .3 gr increments and when I hit the max load mark at 24 gr my gun finally started working and shooting well ....
I didn't chony my loads yet that will be step two for me as I work up hotter loads

On the web, I see the "try .20 Tactical loads" in your .20 Practical and have found the same thing. It's a waste of time, money, bullets, barrel life, etc., etc. Better to ask someone who has a .20P what works.

Good ..so it's not just me..I couldn't have said it better my self..I'm not a penny pincher when it comes to reloading components..it is, what it is..but I hate to be waist full ..many loads I should have brought home , pulled the bullets and start over..but I'm lazy and just shoot them..
I simply justify my laziness and tell myself while my loads suck at least if I shoot them I will fire form the case and help the brass settle down for the next loading..

Any one have data on vihtavuori N-133 powder w/ 40 gr. Hornady v-max ..I even called Robert Whitley trying to track down load data for this combo
No response .. boo-hooooo..
This is for an AR rifle..need start load

I'm looking at 25.0 gr N-133. Got a few more but site says file too large. For what it's worth if you want, PM me your e-mail and I'll send it that way.

VV load data shows 25.3gr N133 as the max load for 40gr V-max in 204R. The 204R has a couple of gr more capacity than than the 20P, so I would suggest a starting load of no more than about 23gr. A former colleague of mine and I tried test loads at 23.3gr with 39gr sierra BK and they worked fine in our respective gas guns with no excess pressure signs. YMMV.
