Load data for 6x250 Ackley

Trying to find a source for some load data on the 6x22-250 AI and there just doesn't seem to be much out there. It appears that the 6 Creedmoor is very close by comparison...does anyone have much information on this? I have several powders to choose from that fit well with the 6 creedmoor. The rifle I have in 6x22-250AI has a 12 twist and I would be running 58gr up to about 75gr bullets max. Thanks in advance.

Ya, thought about that but the material that I have read suggests that the straight 6x250 is substantially less than the 243 and that maybe even the AI version would still be a little shy of what the 243 data shows. Just cannot seem to find anything definitive except that several say the 6x250AI is virtually the same as the 6 creedmoor...but they do not give any side by side load data. I suppose I could start with low end 243 data as well as 6creed data. Thanks

Yes, I saw that...they kind of left out a few of the bullet weights that I was wanting to use as well as some different powders...but it is a start. I was hoping for some first hand experience, but it seems to be very limited on this particular cartridge. I think between the 6x250 data and the 243 data I can work up to a safe load for the AI version. Thanks

I shot the barrels out of two 28", 6-250 AI's, 12T with 48g of Win 760 with a cci 250 primer and a 70g TNT, Ballistic tip, or 69g Berger. I used PMC brass. You will need a 12" drop tube to get the powder in the case. SD is less than 10 fps at a velocity of 3800 fps. My reamer had zero freebore.

Comparing the 6-250 AI to a 6 XC or 6-6.5x47 is not a good comparison, as the AI holds more powder. Comparing the AI to a 6 Creed is more in the ball park.

It would be a good start to use Superformance powder with a 70g bullet to maximize this case. H380 with a 55g nosler would give you some blistering speed, with bug hole accuracy.

Thanks for the info AckleymanII. I tried to call you a couple of days ago, no answer...you PM'd me your phone number in regards to the rifle that I bought years ago from Tim Tanker.

Can you not use 6XC data? Are they not almost identical?

Yes...I am gathering info for the 6xc, 243, 6x250 and 6creedmoor...going to pick a couple of powders that are "common" to all of them and bullet weights...then go from there. Will just start out on the milder side and work up safely. Thanks

I have a 6mm-250AI and shoot 87 grain V-Max bullets exclusively. Bottom .243 loads are a safe place to start but keep in mind that your cartridge has approximately 2 grains less capacity. I had no luck with powders faster than H4350. Ramshot Hunter turned out be be magic pixie dust.

Thanks Tommie.
I have been going over the various calibers/data "associated" with and around this cartridge. Here is just a comparison for Varget and 70gr bullet...just using Varget and 70gr bullets as an example:
Hodgdon Data - 243, Varget, 70gr bullet 38.0 min / 40.5 max
6x250, Varget, 70gr bullet 35.0 min / 37.5 max
6 creedmoor, Varget, 70gr bullet 39.7 min / 43.2 max
Sierra Data - 6creedmoor, Varget, 70gr bullet 37.1 min / 41.5 max

If I were to use Varget for example, then am looking at keeping things around 35.5 to 38.5 safely. I am sure it could be "leaned" on a little harder and other powders might lend themselves better for this cartridge.
Most are running faster twists and heavier bullets using 4350 powder...given that this rifle is a 12 twist, I think some other powders might work well...H4895, 8208 and CFE223...and I probably will shoot 70gr bullets or less. I have shot some some extremely good "bughole" groups already with mild charges of Varget, H4895 and 8208 using 58gr Vmax and 68gr Bergers...it's nice when a rifle shoots great right out of the gate. Thanks again to all that have provided information.
