Dies and Load data for 6mmx250 or 6 INTL

I`m looking for load data for 6mmx250 or 6 INTL.
I have a rifle chambered in 6x250 with a tight neck, .268 I believe. I was thinking about using a 250 savage FL die as a body die until I can find a set for the 6x250.
I noticed in the Headspace interchangeability chart, the 250 savage is not listed with the 22-250 or the 6x250. Will the die size the base and bump the shoulder?
any input would be helpful.

you would have to ream the neck to .266 or it will cruch the case and even then the shoulder will probably be off. I would check with ken waters pet loads and the wildcat double manual put out by wolfe publishing .They list the 6mm int and they mention ww748 with a 70 grainer at37 grains and the80grainers at 36 grains and the hornady 87 grainer at 35 grains. Now dont take my word for it and back off 10 percent.I would research this cartridge everywhere I could to make darn sure That these listed loads will work.Maybe someone can chime in with quick load and run the numbers.PO Ackleys book has load imfo for the 6mm remington internationmal and the 6 - 250 listed as well.If you want this imfo call me at 1-315-986-2915 Jon Lennon

How off base would I be to sujest looking at the 6-6.5x47L load data. I am NOT saying to do so, just asking those "in the know". From what I understand is that the 6-6.5x47 was baisicly a 22-250 necked up to 6mm with a small primer. And, what is a 22-250....a necked down 250 Savage.

That is where I started, I ran about 40gr of H4350 over a 105 SMK in my 6x47L, and it is close.
I did have some pressure signs with a similar load of H4350 and a 90 gr Nosler BT just off the lands.
Possible need to back down and start a ladder test.
Thanks

Howdy !

IMHO..... if your neck-turned brass otherwise fits your chamber w/o being fire-formed, I recommend you try just running w/ a combo " shoulder bump/bushing NS die; and fore-go use of a FL size die.
I haven't had to FL size my accuracy rifle brass for over 25yr ( including wildcat chamberings of my own design, that I've shot ). Use of bump & NS might just work for you ? Hornady can make you a dandy one that accepts Wilson-style NS bushings, do it in short-order; and @ a great price !
I also rather like their " Custom Grade New-Dimension " " Universal-style " bullet seater ( w/ Mircro top ).

As a general guide, load data for 100gr bullets in .250-3000 might help give an idea of those powders best suited to your needs. H380 worked super in my .250-3000 under Sierra 75s, so your notion of using slower-burning IMR4350 under 6mm 105s is certainly stepping off in the right direction.

In another apples/oranges example, my wildcat .22-35Rem had case capacity a tad larger than a
.22-250. From a 28" 1-8 SS 5-groove barrel, it shot Hornady 75"A"-Max' best; over 40.5gr AA3100.
Again, notionally; I'd imagine your better powder choices would be in the WW760 ( H414 ) - AA3100 zone.

Please keep us posted on how your 6-250 works out !

The 6mm International is in the Sierra 5th Edition manual. The hodgdon data page on the internet has a listing for all their powders for the 6mmX250
The 6 International has about 15%less case capacity due to its long neck...almost 1/2 inch.

you can order redding dies from Sinclair for the 6-22-250. just look through the categories until you see the right dies. as for load data my most accurate load with the berger 105 is 36gr h4350 , this is not a hot load. so work your way up until you find what works best. ronfoster

Varminthunter1,

Just a quick aside, and you're probably already aware of this, but be careful with this one when discussing dies or reamers. There's about four or five different versions of the 6mm Intl, so be clear about which one you've got. Migth be worth spending a few bucks to do a chamber cast just to verify some dimensions here.

Thanks Kevin.
mine is standard 22/250 necked up to 6mm and doesn't look like the 6mm INTL. with the longer neck. I`ll get the Redding dies for the 6-22-250. They make a FL bushing die, with the .268 nk, this is the obvious choice for me.
Thanks ,
Jeff
