Load Data for 223 AR-15

Anybody got any load data that you could share for 75 gr. A-max and 75 and 80 gr. Berger VLDs for the AR-15? Thanks in advance for info. Bill

Bill,

Lots of advice on those if you search the archives over on nationalmatch.us; those are fairly popular choices for 600yd slow fire for the XTC guys.

Short version, there are many others): 24-24.5gr Varget or RE-15 work well in a lot of guns. Other popular choices include N140, H4895, N540, maybe even N550 for the guys shooting long barreled space guns. The Sierra/Nosler bullets shoot very well 0.020" off the lands, other styles may prefer a different seating depth.

Good luck,

Monte

Milanuk, I tried those Hornady 75 gr. A-max at 100 yds. today. The load consist of New IMG brass, 23.5 gr. of RL-15, and a BR-4 primer. My best 5 shot group was .340 and the largest was .614 which I think I may have caused that one to open up. I seated the bullets .010 off the lands. I think it may be able to handle a little more flight fuel. I just did not want to get too hot and was conservative with the load. So far this thing is shooting anything I feed it reasonably well. I was taking out pop bottles filled with water at 500 and 600 yds. a couple of weekends ago shooting a 69 gr. SMK and 25.7 gr. of Varget .010 off the lands. Think I should seat them on in to .020? Thanks, Bill
